"It's like I can grant myself a million wishes."
That sounded promising. Kealan started his own line of questioning which culminated in Bobby agreeing to bring the transport to them. "I'll check outside," he said to the Captain as Bobby announced that the deed was done. As soon as he walked out of the building, he saw the large transport, or what was left of it. It tilted precariously to the starboard side and much of its upper structure was missing.
Climbing in through the wreckage, he surveyed the damage, then began throwing personal belongings outside through a hole. There wasn't much that was salvageable, but perhaps someone would appreciate his efforts. Making his way from the stern to the bow, he stopped halfway, finding a foot. Cursing, he continued on, finding more of the dismembered body. Only when he found the head did he know the identity, it was the pilot.
Victor stomped back into the building and pulled Bobby aside. After a lengthy conversation, which involved many tears from the boy and much anger from the Security Chief, Victor stormed back out.
Bobby ran to Eden and clung to her. "I'm sorry," he wailed. "I can't make him alive again." In his hand was Victor's communicator.
The body was placed on a tarp, wrapped up, and placed outside of the transport, then Victor continued emptying the vehicle of personal items. Sweating and still angry, he moved back inside. Seeing the child clinging to Eden did little to calm his temper. The boy had killed. Whether it was intentional or not, it would be of no comfort to the pilot's family. "Did you get it to work," he asked Bobby.
Realizing he hadn't done as the Commander had asked, Bobby pulled away from Eden, though he didn't leave her side. He concentrated hard, then handed it out to Victor. "Try it now."
He activated his communicator, sending out a distress signal on multiple frequencies.
"Help isn't going to crash into this planet, are they," he asked with a stern look in Bobby's direction.
"No," Bobby said. "I'm pretty sure I can keep them safe." Knowing they were coming would allow that, unlike the arrival of the Talon crew's unannounced visit.
Seconds later, came a reply and Victor stepped away to finalize the call and the details. When he was done, he wandered the area outside, notifying everyone that help was on the way. He stared at the scene further away, then came back inside. "Bobby, the one on top of Godzilla out there."
Bobby hurried outside. "She's a magical girl," he said.
"Hm," Victor retorted. "She's one of my security staff. I need her back the way she was."
"Are you sure?"
There was a flash up above them as a shuttle caught the last rays of the sun before the orb disappeared behind the trees. "Bring them in gently," Victor said. He hoped this wasn't all some elaborate trap and that he wasn't going to be responsible for bringing in more victims of this planet.
"Shh..." Bobby hushed him, concentrating with all his might. There were some tense moments, but the shuttle landed safely nearby.
"Everyone into the shuttle," Victor ordered. Hopefully Cobus had located all the crew by now. "You, too, Bobby," he said to the boy.
"Me?"
"Starfleet doesn't leave their own behind," he said. No matter his feelings for what had happened, Bobby obviously was also the victim. "Grab your things and let's go."
Tag all, End Victor
