"Anything and everything physical, ma'am."
With a small quiver of her left eyebrow, Alyssa subtly conveyed her understanding. It hardly surprised her. He was likely the definition of able-bodied, and for a fresh security officer straight out of the Academy, he would have an excellent baseline. But what she needed to know was if he had anything else. The abilities she expected from her subordinates far exceeded the basics.
"At the risk of sounding cocksure, Lieutenant Commander, I feel like I'm doing alright in everything."
“I can handle a degree of cockiness as long there is truth to back it up,” Alyssa reassured him.
"I get adequate sleep, maintain a rigorous study schedule, and the field training is bridging any gaps."
“Any gaps of significance?”
"Procedural paperwork can get a little confusing, but by the time I'm out of here I'll be a professional, ma'am."
Alyssa chuckled. “You are right about that.” Alyssa’s attention diverted a young female ensign who stood at her doorway with silent request for an audience. Alyssa motioned her in, and eyed Micah. “Speak of the devil…”
“Commander…?” the woman asked, looking between the two present.
“We were discussing the virtues of paperwork,” Alyssa replied as she took the PADD from her. She began to look it over as she continued. “Have you two met?”
“No, ma’am,” The ensign looked to Micah and smiled. “ But I have heard of you. Welcome aboard, Cadet.”
Alyssa finished skimming the summary, and set the PADD done. “Thank you, ensign. Everything looks good. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
The enisgn nodded. “Thank you, Ma’am. You too.” The ensign looked to Micah. “Pleased to meet you.” Her stare lingered before she made a swift exit.
“Unless there was anything you wanted to discuss, you are free to go.” She stood. “Keep up the good work, Cadet. And don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.”
