"Where are we?" Nevir asked, as he was escorted down a cement path that felt cool and most likely underground. The aide who had grabbed him from the hotel was walking with him, flanked by guys dressed in grey uniform wearing comm badges in the shape of three circles. Something that reminded him of the molecule H2O, but he had feeling that wasn't it.
There was another person in front of them, with a PADD and a nametag to added a rectangle to the 3 concentric circles. She was apparently their guide in this facility.
"Oh, this is the famous Utilidors underneath the Disney World resort. There are hundreds of years of history down here, but basically it was first an innovation to alleviate traffic before transporters or shuttles, and then turned quickly into an employee accessway to get anywhere in the park. It's also used to get our special guests where they need to go without having to cross through the crowds."
"O-oh." he said, looking around at the mix of holograms and physical costumes. Their guide had explained earlier that while they did embrace the world of today, some guests still prefer the old authentic experience. They have a high market for being windows into the past.
"And where are we going?"
"Tomorrowland, of course. That's what you guys requested. Poetic; one of our greatest minds in the one place where we dream of the future."
Nevir had no idea what she was talking about, but went along with it. He turned to see if he could get more information out of his aid, but she was on the phone. The words "Bergin" and "Tahp" were being whispered, as references to past events that he did not know about. It was starting to dawn on him that the reason why his memory was completely difference was because not only was he suddenly brought to earth with a role, but it was an entire life.
"Here we are, up these stairs will take you to the Tomorrowland's Star Stage. Everyone is already waiting."
He felt himself bein nudged up the stairs and made it to a platform, where there were others waiting for him. With relief, they started talking to him about what the plans were, what his day would be like, and finally something about an announcement to be made later. Nevir was honestly only half listening, which was okay, since he was being told to just be himself. It wasn't until his commbadge chirped on his chest that he felt some relief.
//"This is the Captain. All crew is ordered to identify their locations to their direct superiors immediately. Department chiefs will coordinate information with their staff and report any findings, emergencies, and missing crew to Commander Sula. Once we have more information, you will be given further instructions. Monroe, out."//
"The Captain is here..." Nevir stated with a sigh of relief, though the rest of the people around him didn't seem too happy about it. He wanted to respond to the Captain so bad... but there were direct instructions. Wait... who was his superior? He was no longer an officer (or in this reality, chose to remain non-commissioned for some reason), but he couldn't remember who the coordinator was. He could picture her... a strong woman who had started to inspire him to get better. But.... he couldn't remember the name. Maybe he had always just reported to Science? People began to clear the platform as he tapped the badge and reported to the first person he could think of in the science department.... Bandon.
// "Tekison to Bandon. Reporting in. I'm somewhere called the Star Stage in a place called Tomorrowland. I... apparently have a public event that is about to start, so might not be able to respond immediately. Tekison out." //
He ended the call just as the platform rose to the ground floor, and he could hear some sort of announcer outside a pair of double doors. He tried to remain calm, listening as he heard his name multiple times, before smoke machines started billowing around him and the doors opened.
There was some sort of marching band cadence that marked his arrival, and he stood there in shock at the size of the crowd. With the gesturing of the MC, Nevir took a step out to a roar of cheers and applause. He stopped at the MC, and looked around, before raising his hand in a wave. The crowd went wild. So many people. All to see him.
Nevir couldn't help himself. He was wanted. Cheered for. Praised.
He smiled, and gave in.
