Physical Profile (height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc.): Ainsley stands at 5'11" and maintains a trim physique for a woman of her age. She practices a form of Bajoran yoga everyday and eats a vegan diet. Her eyes are brown and her hair is a muted auburn which hasn't changed style in decades. Ainsley is functional and familiar when it comes to her grooming, contrasting her multi-cultural tastes. Her quarters are decorated with a mishmash or items from several different planets. Her face is weathered by a lifetime of sticky mediations and a messy divorce. Despite this, she still holds some of her younger self's graces.
Personality: A scholar at heart, nothing enthralls Ainsley more than a new find. She is the first to dive headfirst into a new exciting topic. Passionate in her pursuits, day-to-day she is an extremely calm individual and carries a calming air about her. Though she is not an extrovert, she is far from the wallflower she was as a child and is quite happy leading an intelligent conversation or putting someone in their place, if required. Her humour is dark and she revels in dry wit, though can appreciate slapstick with the best of them. She is a terrible pilot and though she has a hand around the necessities of working on a starship she is a technophobe. Plagued by replicator faults and unco-operative holodecks, her level-headed brain is almost convinced that she is cursed. Because of this, she avoids technology whenever she can and has amassed a small yet impressive collection of beaten up literature that she reads in her down time. She enjoys cooking and has developed a mature pallet, able to handle some alien dishes that the average human dare not consume.
Background and History: Ainsley was raised in the more affluent side of New Berlin on Luna. Growing up in one of the most diverse cities on the moon certainly had it's effects on her. One of her earliest memories was being left with her Denobulan nanny for a long weekend when her parents went away for a break. The universal translator malfunctioned and left the two unable to understand each other. Starting off with basic pigeon sign language, by the time her parents returned Ainsley had learned a quarter of the Denobulan dictionary. It's perhaps this moment that led her to study linguistics and by proxy, apply to starfleet academy, something she had not before considered. Not much of a fighter, it wasn't in her nature. During her training she was posted as an intern at the federation council shadowing a junior translator giving her an insight into diplomacy.
By the time of her graduation she could get by in up to 20 languages and was fluent in Andorian, Vulcan, Betazoid, Ktarian and of course, Denobulan. Over her seventy years of life this number grew to an impressive 48 languages leaving her to be considered a hyperpolyglot.
During a posting at the Bajoran embassy she met her ex-husband, Holan Lizl and after a reluctant romance, the two engaged. After delaying marriage for three years, Ainsley finally relented and the two were joined officially by a Vedek. They adopted two sons; Jasil, a Bajoran also and Ploam, a Bolian orphan. Life was relatively quiet but when arguments arose they were cutting and cleverly-worded, leaving deep scars.
As a Lieutenant, Ainsley encountered an ambassador from an alien species whom she developed a close repartee with. Misunderstanding the signals, the ambassador kissed her and unwittingly left Ainsley in quarantined hospitalization for three weeks due to incompatible physiologies. Several promotions and a couple of grandchildren later, it appeared marital life just didn't fit anymore. What followed was a messy divorce that ripped the family apart, leaving one son estranged and the other migrating away. Knowing nothing else but the peace of her work and study, Ainsley returned to Starfleet and has been assigned to the Talon.

"Asgwrn..."
It was one of the greatest enigmas of the universe that the Ferengi and the Welsh of planet Earth had the some word for "bone". Well, to Ainsley it was anyway. It fascinated her when this oddities cropped up. Naturally, when she considered the vast amount of life in the known galaxy, it was no surprise when she found these overlaps. But when words sounded the same and had the exact same meaning, that was rare.
She ruminated over this for the umpteenth time as her tea steeped in front of her. She liked to let it sit for a few minutes longer than usual to really let the flavours develop. Gripping the metallic cup, she inhaled the vapour before sighing, satisfied that it was ready.
Unfortunately, it seemed that her tea would have to wait. The room shook as a flash of light shot across the window of the mess hall. It seemed duty called as they were ordered to battle stations. Ferengi lexicons would have to wait another day.
