"Oh, I don't know. He disappeared. He was muttering something about Ava and a baby. I'm so messed up. I don't understand him. I don't even know where to start."
Celia glanced at Tim. She hadn't meant to make Georgie depressed again. Last she knew, the two had headed off together making goo-goo eyes at each other and talking about love. Of course, they were talking about William Hunter. For a man so schooled in cultural studies, he certainly had no clue how to interact with humans.
"What are you supposed to make of someone who tells you that he loves you, but runs off somewhere else any time you get a moment alone? I just wanted to be loved. Is that too much to ask?"
"No," Celia said, walking over to her and putting an arm around the woman's shoulders, "it's not."
"When I was in Sickbay... after I woke up... Hunter was with Ava. They were working on that pregnant ops officer. She had to have a cesarean. I was there when they wheeled the baby in an incubator past me." She shrugged. "Ava. Hunter. Baby."
She leaned forward, sniffing the rose, then tilted her head to look up at Georgia. Her lips parted slightly. She was so close... But she closed her eyes and straightened up, "I have to get back to work," she said. "I wouldn't worry too much about Hunter. He seems to like you a lot. After all, you were all he ever talked about when he wandered into the botany lab on occasion."
Celia moved back over to the computer and began trying to figure out the path of the beam. She sighed softly. "We all want to be loved," she thought.
