Some things never changed… Eddie was one of those things. Miraa watched, unphased as he laid on the charm. It was something she had built a resistance against. It had taken time to develop that callused reaction to his philandering. Now it was second nature.
Miraa nodded as the Chief of Security took her leave, ignored Eddie’s off-color remark and waved off the shopkeeper when she offered to assist her in finding something. She thought it best to leave Eddie to his task and not get tangled up with him any further.
Turning she went back to browsing through the wears. She had come here with the intention of finding something nice for her new quarters and she would be damned if she would let that asinine lothario to spoil her day.
Moving in the opposite direction away from Eddie and his new playmate, she made her way toward the rear of the shop where she had spotted some decorative rugs. A nice area rug in the living area may just be what she had been looking for. While she tried to ignore him, she could not help but steal a few glances his way. It had been a long time since she had been in the same room with Eddie and despite herself; she still felt that tug in the pit of her stomach when she look at him. Was she really shopping for a rug or was she hoping he would come and talk to her? Yes, to both counts. The question was, how long would she drag out this shopping trip to get what she wanted before she decided it was all a waste of her time and just head ‘home’?
