“No but you never expect to be the ones to find the evidence do you?”
Hunter smirked. I do.
"Do you think someone is trying to create a wormhole near Aesco?"
"Not likely," he replied to Quin. Why did everyone always think that man was the cause. Nature, on her own, was perfectly capable of producing wondrous events without any interference from outside sources. Still, it was an intriguing thought.
“Right, well I suppose what we will have to do is cross all the wormhole transits with these events to see if there is a correlation.”
Another raise of the eyebrow. Isn't that what I just said?
“I think we're going to have to map these. If we map both independently, and when we overlay it all if it melds together well it speaks for itself. I should be able to pull up all the data on the wormhole from various sensor logs and extract it all from the background noise...”
"I wonder what else is hiding in these streams," Hunter mused as Clyde poked away at the console in excitement. "This is going to open up an entirely new field of study." He bounced slightly in his chair. "And we get our names attached to it."
“Then of course, well have all the statistics data to run, all the numerical models to do and so forth.”
"I'll have someone else take care of my experiments," Hunter said. There was a collective groan from the assembled lab techs.
"Dibs on the eye worm," one of them said. Another ran over to the replicator and got coffee for all of them. Though many in the lab had varying opinions of each other, something like this always drew them together. Conflicts were dropped, misunderstandings forgotten for the time being, and everyone worked as a well-oiled machine.
"Hey, Hunter," the coffee carrying tech said. "Are you really sure you want to tell Georgia 'screw you'?" He was staring at the console Hunter had abandoned earlier. Though it would have been tempting to just hit the send button 'accidentally', they needed Hunter's head in the game right now.
"Delete that," Hunter replied, waving his hand.
The tech did as he was told, sending the display back to the original message. He didn't want to pry... well, that wasn't true. Quickly, he read Georgia's missive. "Geez, Hunter. I'd've told her 'screw you', too."
Hunter looked up, sighed, and returned to what was making him happy. "Okay...let's get going."
