Well that wouldn't do. After a few minutes of playing with the schedule, it was configured in a way that everyone would be working 12 hours shifts for 5 days. Shaking her head, momentarily forgetting the interrogation the Etaera and Tazer were watching, she knew there was a better way of distributing their workforce without killing them. Instead of fixing what she had in front of her, she started from scratch and poked at her terminal as she added team rotations and tasks piece by piece. She was startled out of her reverie with the Governor's harsh treatment of his console.
"I swear that defective computers follow me around."
I hear Gavum's not busy writer now, let me just put in a request for him to come up here and take a look at it.
Surely it couldn't be that bad, having his own staff that entailed a computer expert. Pausing the movement of her work to walk towards the Governor's console, she had intended to give him tease him a bit for it. But, before she could offer any of her own expertise, he manhandled his computer to regain its function. Vance stopped short in a space behind and between the two of them, about to turn back to her post.
"Popcorn?"
"Look, look. She's gone all pale." He chuckled. "Wonder what he said."
At long last, Vance couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. Plus, if it were classified, they would have been watching the interrogation in her office instead of the middle of the Command Center. While she didn't partake in the popcorn herself, she stood as close as she dared, watching the proceedings. They were both right, the intruder's expressions were open for even the most novice of body language readers. One would think that someone who was able to infiltrate a space station and avoid capture as she did was a little more practice in resisting the interrogation process.
"Not a word of this leaves the Command Center, Lieutenant."
Feigning innocence, her brown eyes became wide and she shrugged her golden clad shoulders. "What word?" she asked lightly, before giving Tazer and equally blank and look. Vance never did well in dissembling, and her false expression melted into a grin once more. They were soon joined by yet another senior officer, who took a spot nearby for the show.
"Nike couldn't handle her?"
Chuckling softly, she used it as an opportunity to take herself back to her post. There was still the schedule to rip apart, and the console was starting to get crowded. Putting the puzzle back together again, Vance frowned only slightly at the mention of Romulans and a possible yellow alert. Even contained in the brig, Sunland still managed to give them one problem after another. Defending against Romulans was always a difficult task for a starship, it would be ridiculous to attempt it on an incomplete space station.
The engineer's thoughts ran away with the potential threats as she continued her work, trying different configurations of the upcoming weeks. She missed most of the following conversation and commentary, until she felt the distinct satisfaction of figuring something out. It wasn't perfect, and they wouldn't be completely caught up, but it brought them close enough to being on schedule without breaking everyone's back. The only thing that would slow them down is if the Romulans themselves came to the station. Pushing the mordbid thought aside. She typed a short and direct message to the Chief Engineer along with her recommendation before transmitting it to his PADD. There. She couldn't take it back. It was better late than never, and better than hearing him say that no one had bothered informing him, which she was sure he would do.
