Hudson sat at her computer, brow furrowed at what was displayed. A PADD was nearby and she occasionally looked over to it, tapping out a few things, and deepening the frown. "This is impossible," she snapped. With a swipe of her hand, she sent the PADD clattering to the floor, startling Eddie who ran off into the other room where it was safer. During the previous month, she had avoided everyone. She did her work, then immediately returned to her quarters, setting the door to 'do not disturb'. All personal messages went unanswered. She was the model Starfleet officer, dedicated and not engaging in any frivolous chatter on the job.
Turning in her chair, she looked down at the PADD before stretching to retrieve it off of the floor. Over the next half hour, she continued her work on the computer before sitting back, just as frustrated as she was before. Just as she had done over the past month, she opened a box on the table and pulled out a silver card. Though she had thrown Dahr's business card back at him on Etimon, another was sent to her before the ship departed the station. She knew the card by heart, but she still gravitated to it when she was frustrated, which was often lately.
"Luxury, gifts, your own place to live, away from the cold emptiness of space."
Holding the card in one hand, she wiped the fingerprints from the surface of it with the other before putting it back in the box.
"It is a great life."
Closing her eyes, she put her palms over them and rubbed, then slid her legs back under the desk as she continued with her task.
