"Now that you're here, are you hungry? Thirsty?"
Much to his embarrassment, Adam's stomach replied loudly.
"Maybe some moisturizer?"
Adam bit his lip to stop the laugh that wanted to escape. How could the Commander make jokes at a time like this. The man seemed so calm, yet there was a Mehtak on board. Adam had no idea what was going on but he remained rooted in place, frozen out of fear for what might happen to all of them.
"Now, Lieutenant."
Now? Now what?! Adam looked from one Lieutenant to the next, then he heard the transporter beam at the same time he became weightless. Losing hold of the brain-covered towel, he used both hands to grab onto a support bar. One of the Mae floated near him and Adam let go with one hand and grabbed the man by the back of his shirt, pulling him over. The Mae saw the Mehtak had disappeared and the wide-eyed alien started making a joyous noise at the back of his throat. Soon, they were back on their feet and, while Tyne got things underway again, Adam made sure the Mae weren't too petrified by their aerial trip. However, they all seemed pretty excited. He pulled out a couple of jump seats for them to sit, but they were too keyed-up and just milled around in their little group. The medic came over and waved his tricorder at them discretely, just to be sure none were injured.
"What's the status of the shuttles?"
Though Adam wished they could all just go back to the Talon, he knew the battle wasn't over. Hopefully, soon, the Mae would be free again and get back to rebuilding their ravaged planet.
