I wish I knew,"
Cliff sighed heavily as he continued up the rickety ladder that whilst was probably expertly welded in place... it still felt like it was going to give way any second. This wasn't the fist time he had been in what Stafleet personnel were used to, the situations where fear ran riot. Cliff could deal with his fears as he was one of the better civilians aboard for understanding it. You ran the hell away from Buffalo but you faced lions... it was a bundle that was essentially a volcano. Fear could either destroy or build and he knew letting his fears get the better of him here would prove fruitless.
Cliff coughed, the fine dust and spray from the explosion was still settling and irritated his gullet as he breathed it in. Then a thought occurred to him. He plainly understood the bomb meant intruders but had it been beamed in or what? The thought cause him to stop on the ladder not realising that Cobus would get a face full of black boot if the joined Trill wasn't good on his reflexes. He looked back at the man and whispered, "Don't think that bomb came from directly up, do you?" He knew the man was likely smart enough to consider all the choices of how the bomb turned up, where it came from literally in a technological sense. As to who the intruders were name-wise remained unknown.
"There should be an access port to the jeffries tubes coming up on your right. Can you see it?"
He frowned and looked upwards, straining out with his body the best he dared his hands gripping the metalwork of the ladder tightly. He didn't want to let go, he didn't fancy the way down. A death bed of gnarled and wrought metal and shrapnel was likely to meet them if they did so. It didn't really bare much thinking about but that tended to be a by-product of his occupation, emersed in a world of drama and sequences. It took a few moments for his eyes to pinpoint what could have been what Cobus had been talking about.
"Think so," he had been about to say more but was cut off by a male voice he did not recognise. Another engineer maybe? He didn't know and it wasn't important right now. "Sit tight? Don't tempt me," he muttered darkly, mostly to himself.
