Luis followed one of the Breatach guides away from the base camp and towards another encampment close by. Why they chose him was a question he could not answer except to guess that they needed a medical doctor and he was the only one with the away team. It didn't take him long to find out what the problem was.
In a room surrounded by what he could only describe as elders, lay a female Breatach lying on some sort of what he could only describe as nesting material. She moaned loudly in pain, her amber colored eyes pleading with him. One of the Breatach was wearing a feathered hat and clutching some sort of ancient looking rattle. He guessed the male was some sort of shaman. The room was smoky and smelled of incense.
"Tomora is this," the Bretachian guard spoke in hushed tones. "Daughter of Szonja she is. Trouble with egg she has. Honored doctor is to check her if he please. Need help much."
He could tell from her eyes that this female was having a difficult time of, the only thing he could come up with was, laying an egg. "I have an instrument that will help me to diagnose her problem," he pulled out his medical tricorder for them to see. "It will cause her no harm and I will not touch her," he looked at them. After seeing their reaction to Grace's tricorder as she was trying to take readings he didn't want to do anything that would upset them.
The several Breatch that were there each looked at the instrument Luis held, murmuring in hushed tones among themselves before nodding their approval. Opening the device he slowly moved it over the female's body as it took readings. The shell of her egg was unusually thick and seemed to be lodged in an awkward position. It was difficult to tell if there was any young inside the egg but he suspected there most likely was. The part of her body where the egg would be laid look closer to the vent of a bird rather than a humanoid female. This was a quandary as to what to do.
"I need to speak to my Chief Medical Officer," he told the one that seemed to be in charge. "I'd like to get his advice to help me to know what to do."
The guide that brought him spoke to the group surrounding the obviously suffering female and they once again murmured together and then nodded their approval. Stepping outside the building he tapped his comm badge.
//"Commander Ericson. I am sorry to bother you but I need some help with a Breatch patient."//
He proceeded to explain to him what his readings showed then forwarded them to Sig's PADD and waited for his CMO's advice.
