"Good job, Commander. Under no circumstances are you to drop that shield or transport the remains to the Talon."
'Ya think?' Stetson muttered to himself.
"For that reason, I am not going to be part of the transport or the containment."
"I understand, Mr. Hunter, and I agree completely."
The others continued to discuss aspects of the shield, the body, the device, the effects, and other minutiae. He'd heard enough. The shuttle was out of the question - couldn't risk contamination - leaving beaming the mess to space to everything currently inside the containment field. So the choice was obvious; follow Hunter's recommendation.
Stetson contacted the ship and made arrangements for the ships' deflector shields to be lowered only long enough to beam the mess into space. After a short delay, during which the transporter crew requested and received permission to honor Stetson's request, the familiar glow of the transporter surrounded the containment field, which then faded away. Once the transport was complete, the shields were reactivated. At that point, all threats were eliminated. All that was left was for the mass to be properly stored and sent back to Starfleet.
Stetson contacted Monroe, brought him up-to-date on where they were in the process, and have him arrange for the disposition of the remains, et al.
He turned to the assembled group. "Well, folks, it seems that the shields are up around the Talon. Can't say why. Once they're able, they bring us back. Until then, I suggest we use this time to our benefit."
