Cobus was confused. He didn't know what he was supposed to do with time off, and he wondered when he had become one of those people. It already felt wrong. He'd slept in, showered, ate a leisurely breakfast, and dressed himself in civilian clothing, all the while feeling like he was late for something.
And there was no Eilidh. The two of them had made foolishly hopeful plans about all of the things they would do when they finally got time off together. Eilidh's ship had already left the station by the time they'd arrived at SGE, he'd checked, though he wasn't even sure what he would've done if it hadn't.
After a weird morning of feeling out of place, he soon made his way to the transporter pad and beamed down to the planet. It was one of those "you know you're a Starfleet officer when-" moments. Right now Cobus felt more comfortable with going to a new planet than staying in his own quarters.
The only thing he'd brought with him was his combadge. Everything else had been left behind. Like most officers, he'd been tempted to bring along a padd for some "light reading", but he'd talked himself out of it. He should be embracing the new culture, not catching up on scientific papers.
Shortly after his arrival, Cobus found himself in an open air cafe of sorts, lying face down on a lounge chair as his waiter drove an elbow into the knot above his left shoulder blade. The massage had been an intriguing part of their lunch menu, and since he couldn't actually read the menu, he'd been letting his waiter make most of his life choices. He'd woken up sore after running around engineering trying to be a dozen different officers all at once, and this just what he needed.
There was a brief discussion on fermentation, where he was pleased to discover that this planet enjoyed fermented beverages, and that cocktail selections would appear at his fingertips momentarily. The Pelebians were more than welcoming and seemed intent on making sure that all of their needs, wants, and whims were met. He hadn't been this well cared for since his last visit to Risa.
