"The transporters would be quicker, ma'am, if you're wanting to get to the planet."
Ziana sighed and smiled sweetly back at the young non-comm who was regarding her somewhat nervously. She suspected he didn't get many requests from officers who weren't pilots or command officers to take out shuttles. He didn't look old enough to be out of high school, let alone be all the way out in the Gamma Quadrant.
"I know," she said, doing her best 'sweet and innocent' voice. "But I need the ship. I assure you, the crew will be sufficiently comepetant."
He eyed her suspiciously, obviously not believing her but unsure how difficult he should be to a Lieutenant, even a Junior Grade one.
"Just wait here, ma'am. I'll go speak to someone and see what I can do."
Zi rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders.
"OK, fine." It wasn't like she had much choice. Wheedling obviously wasn't getting her anywhere; until someone signed off on the thing she wasn't getting her ship.
The non-comm wandered off to find someone else to take the responsibility for the decision off his shoulders, and Ziana dropped her duffle bag to the floor. Figuring she probably had a while to wait, she flopped down onto one of the chairs that lined the room and pulled out a PADD with her travel plans on it.
Maybe one of her aforementioned crew would turn up whilst she was waiting, and make it look a little less like she was trying to commandeer a shuttle on her own and take it for a joyride around Etimon.
