"Roger that, Commander..."
It wasn’t imperative that more than one medical officer attended. It would just mean that the job here would take less time to do. Considering the condition of the people on the makeshift beds, Jorge didn’t want to have them remain in that state any longer than they needed to.
“Sir, we’ve finished searching the rest of the ship. It’s all clear,” said a voice from above him.
“Good,” he responded. “We should give the medic some extra space. Let’s go.” A small sigh of relief escaped Jorge’s lips, knowing that there was only one room on board that had contents such as this, but even that was too many. It always pained him to see others suffering, it didn’t matter who it was. The longer he stayed in that room, the stronger the temptation to help them would become, and that would come with consequences. If he had things his way, he’d disconnect all the equipment hooked up to these unfortunate victims and carry them to sickbay himself, but he didn’t want to tamper with anything he didn’t fully understand, and for all he knew…these devices could be keeping these people alive. He just didn’t know, and when you just don’t know, the best thing to do is leave everything as it is. The medics would take care of it, of that he could be sure.
Deciding not to take any risks, Jorge vacated himself from the room and instructed ensign Marrows to do the same. Climbing back up the ladder, Jorge wondered how progress was doing outside; perhaps Commander Richards had obtained some answers. The worst outcome of Sunland attempting yet again to escape had already been disproven by the confirmation of her ship being secure, so Jorge could focus on the alternatives. With such thoughts in his mind, he hurried up the ladder.
As he walked out of the ship, he found that something almost as bad had happened; Sunland had a phaser in hand aimed at Richards, nobody was attempting to restrain her, and there was a guard on the floor holding his nose. How the hell did it come to this!? He thought. An even worse circumstance is that he was now in plain sight of the traitor; one move and she would open fire without hesitation, so Jorge regretted that he could not simply take out his phaser and fire at her. She already had hers drawn, whereas Jorge did not, and so he was at a disadvantage.
"Commander Richards here. I'm currently being held at gun point, but the situation is under control."
Taking cover inside the ship was an option as well, but Sunland would only threaten the assistant chief to show himself. It was also cowardly, which Jorge was not fond of. Since the situation was now under her control, and Richards life in her hands, Jorge had no choice but to just stand there and let the two of them continue their little chat. The 3 security officers with Jorge followed suit behind him, whom upon seeing the situation in the docking bay, changed their expressions to something that said “…crap.”
