“Well I was going to show you the waterfall. You know the same one in my holo program. I thought you would want to see it in person.”
That drew his interest. He was a lover of the great outdoors as much as she was and he liked that very much. Giving her a soft grin he picked a leaf off her shoulder.
"Lead the way, Caroline," he said as he turned to follow her towards where the waterfall was waiting, wherever that was. It had been a good while since he had heard water in its natural environment. As they walked he noticed that she was quiet but said nothing. It actually gave him a moment to consider things himself.
He liked this girl. He really liked this girl but was he ready for a deeper, more dynamic relationship with her? But there was something about her that he really liked. Caroline wasn't brash or loud or anything like that. There were some women he knew that were loud and liked to be the center of attention. Although he could have some fun with women like that they weren't someone he could get serious about. But Caroline was different. She was a decent young woman who was chaste and he liked that about her. His father had told him once that his mother was a chaste woman and he had promised himself that he wanted a woman like his mother.
“Luis, have I done something to upset you?” she asked him. The question surprised and puzzled him. Sometimes woman could be hard to figure out.
“Ahh, no you haven't. Why would you think …,” but before he could finish his question a pleasant sounding chiming came from her backpack. He couldn't imagine what it was until she pulled out this marvelous looking PADD that looked more advanced then any he had seen previously.
“Luis, It’s the Captain.”
She told him after checking her message. Holding it so he could read it he saw that it was not an order but rather a request, actually a pleas, for help from Captain Monroe to come to San Francisco. There was no way he could say no to him after all they had been through.
“If our Captain calls for our help who am I to say no to him?” he told her. “Look,” he continued. “Captain Monroe is the second Captain I've served under. As much respect as I had for Captain Alexander, I have great respect for Captain Monroe, as well,” he told her. “Let's go to San Francisco.”
