As the spectacle continued to unfold, Diran at least was successful in having his authority recognised enough to part the gathered crowd. The last thing these two needed was to be surrounded by gawkers as their heated discussion was obviously of a sensitive nature. A blow had already been dealt, so he was prepared to act further to stop the already tense situation escalating into something that both participants would regret. Luckily there were no more physical altercations, but there was something about the Lieutenant that Diran had seen a lot of during the war, perhaps even himself at one stage, and hoped never to see again - defeat. Tekison was fighting a psychological battle that currently he appeared to be losing, but then he was no counselor. Such things were beyond his understanding, especially in a species that mostly kept their true feelings mostly hidden. Like most in this galaxy then.
"Let us break it down," she said firmly. "You were imprisoned. You were attacked by Jenison because she was under the influence of an alien drug. You were separated with me and had probably the best sexual experience of your life without even taking off your clothes. Then, you were tired. I did not kill you, I have enough history in my life to know how to break it off without that happening. What I know from others is that after I was taken, you became depressed, then threw up, then bashed your head in, then helped everyone escape."
Diran blinked. Well that was...frank. It certainly told him just what had gone on, and he was glad that the crowd had been dispersed. It seemed his actions saved some sort of humiliation on Tekison's part, but then he was hardly in the right mindset to care, he supposed. Either way, it seemed as though Tahp was rather unimpressed by both his actions and his emphasis on himself during his 'explanation'. Perhaps that wasn't quite how he had meant to come across, but it was an unfortunate fact that had not escaped the Etimonian's notice.
"Is that worth giving up your career? You do not even know me, as you have clearly stated, so why ruin your life because you had a bad day?!"
She did have a point there, but even Diran knew that it just wasn't as simple as that. There were times during the war he had thought of resigning his own commission, but in the end he had persevered. Time was sometimes the only effective healer, but it was also the most painful. Not everyone could endure it for that long, and the Bajoran wasn't showing good signs right now. Then again, so did everyone when things were still so raw.
To his credit, he did not jump as Tahp made a swift exit and Tekison punched the bulkhead hard. He then turned toward him with a look that seemed to dare him to follow. Or to report him, and while he figured this episode was worth a mention to at least the mans direct superior, now was not the time. For now, he felt himself for once unsure of what to do. The man would be unlikely to appreciate his company or advice, nor was he obligated to do so, but he felt that he should stick around to at least scope out the potential for a security incident. For that reason, he followed him back into the Nest, just in time to witness him downing a shot of what he suspected to be alcohol and requesting another. Right after stating what by now was more obvious than his own remark about the PADDs and proclaiming loudly that he would likely be expecting a call from Vargas, Richards or even the captain himself! Although intervening would be extremely unwelcome, he felt as if he perhaps should. He was drawing attention to himself again, and acting in a very un-Starfleet manner.
"I would recommend against that sir, alcohol is a depressant and will only feel worse later", he informed him. Sure, it was a quick fix that he himself had indulged him, but never on a Starfleet vessel! Either way, he guessed he now knew too much to be welcome in the Lieutenants presence for much longer. Why was he even still here?
