"Nothing too much, m'dear. Just enjoying a welcome gift from our illustrious bar owner. A fine, rare vintage."
It was rather courteous of Kye to offer to pick up her tea personally. Of course that left her solely in the company of Marak. She was still under the impression that he viewed her as little more than her father's daughter. Sure he complimented her skill as a doctor, but his earlier comments hinted to her that he didn't have very much faith in her skills as a doctor as well. Should the opportunity ever present itself otherwise, Aurora wasn't entirely sure if she cared to prove him wrong.
=/\= Gul Marak, the Federation has arrived from the Alpha Quadrant. Central Command is requesting your presence. =/\=
Aurora arched her eyebrow at the announcement. She could already see that the Gul was ready to play his round in the game of politics in this sector. Some seemed to believe the louder they were, the more important they were. She surmised it was about time for him to pound his chest in front of the new Federation commander.
“So, what were we discussing?”
As Kye returned with her tea, she nodded slightly in his direction and thanked him for the beverage. She brought it towards her lips, sampling the brew. It was good. Not quite as good as Ozzy's brew, but exceptionally better than what the replicator could produce.
"Not much, I'm afraid I must be going. Would you be so kind as to keep this here for now? Duty called. Always a pleasure, doctor."
"Always," Aurora said with a smile. The truth was, he couldn't get away quickly enough. Aurora had to wonder how the new Captain would his greeting from the Cardassian. She would have to acquaint herself with the Federation Captain at some point. Her eyes causally caught sight of a Federation officer, wearing a gold uniform. She heard Kye gesture towards the man, insisting that Kell see to him.
"I suppose that leaves only us, Mister Kye," Aurora said. She took a deep breath, thinking that perhaps she could take the time to get to know the man without the distraction of Marak. "So, what could possibly bring you all the way out here... so far from the conveniences of the Federation?" For some humans, it was obvious. If they were Starfleet or scientists, it made sense for them to venture out. The same could be said for diplomats. But why would anyone else do so before the Federation could guarantee a genuine sense of security. Perhaps it would reveal what sort of man Kye truly was.
