The science lab was quiet... very quiet. And to be frank, that was relieving. The last time they were in this part of space, Nevir was having much worse problems, the main ones being medical, and social. It was while stationed here that Tahp and himself had a argument, which resulted in Nevir being assaulted with PADDs and eventually slapped. It was also here that Tahp said they can work professionally, but that she would never forgive him, and didn't want anything to do with him.
Since that time, Nevir had been thinking while on light duty, using work when it was too much to handle. Eventually, he had come to see things from her point of view, especially considering that there was no way she could have known if he was new or had been with the Talon from the start. Especially with officers like Hunter and Bandon, it was difficult to try and stand out. Instead he had resolved to do what he could to keep busy and stay out of her way, and hope that things could improve.
The attack by the now named species that assaulted the ship had changed that. Defying the orders of light duty, the Bajoran had done much to help, and in that moment, Tahp had called him. It had been the first time the two had been in the same room, and from there things changed. What started with Tahp saving his life to them trying to save Hunter's, and finally the look they shared, Nevir had found a new strength in trying to make amends with her.
Part of that was to get more information on what happened to Tahp with her stasis ability, and what could possible be done to help her. He had been able to send a message to Etimon, and was now waiting for a response. Interestingly enough, he had wondered how they would react to a call from someone on the Talon who had never been on their world before. While he waited, he had something else he had to do.
The destruction of Trallis was an unknown; a change that hadn't been recorded. And as the first ship on sight, it was the responsibility of the Talon to prepare a report of the situation to help update records.. and explain catastrophic changes. This was one of those.
"While I wait..." he said, bringing up the projection of Trallis, the one he had recreated. "Computer, prepare a report for Daystrum, and for the Etimonian equivalent. Subject: Trallis System Discovery." he said, waiting for the acknowledgement from the computer. As soon as it was ready, Nevir began tapping away on his PADD.
"Begin dictation. Approximately one week ago, the Federation starship USS Talon encountered an alien race known as the Pewdin within Sector 4571 near the Trallis system. While the events that occurred during that encounter are not particularly relevant to this report, I have attached the official mission report as well for convenience. One of these tasks found in the report was to investigate an asteroid belt found in the Trallis system. At the time, the Federation had not consulted the Etimonian database, mostly due to the events in the report. The task's main goal was a search for artificial pieces of an object, with the purpose of bringing them back to the Talon and possible reconstruction. The Captain stopped the tasks...."
He continued on with the report for a good while.
"... the question of the destruction of Trallis still remains unanswered, however we are about 90% confident that the weapon device is the cause. After extensive sensor readings of the asteroids and the Trallis star, a natural cause to the planet's destruction has been ruled out. This leaves the cause of the destruction to be the result of actions taken by the inventors of the weapon, which at this time remains a mystery. There are three possibilities; one, that the weapon was self inflicted by the people of Trallis for one of many possible causes. Two, that the species known as the Ga'rik Alahr used the weapon against Trallis. And three, the suspects are none other than the Pewdin themselves. Of the three options, the Pewdin seem unlikely, as they appeared to have no knowledge of the weapon beforehand. There is no way to ask the Trallians, as none have yet been found to have survive their planet's death. That leaves the Ga'rik Alahr, however they have appeared to be extremely hostile to outsiders. Regardless of the cause, the effects of this event are only starting to manifest within the region. The dispersal pattern of the asteroid field may have sent fragments into the star or out of the system, and the concentration of the field relative to its orbit has shifted the gravitational forces of the star itself. The remaining planets are at risk of decaying orbits based on this change of gravity, and will be monitored closely. Addendums will be added as continued monitoring of the system commences. End dictation." he said, wrapping the report up.
"Computer, prepare the report and all attachments. Transmit when ready." he said, going over to a replicator and ordering a drink to clear the dryness in his throat from his talking. He walked back to the main computer panel and pushed a few buttons.
"Computer, open a channel to Etimon as soon as they respond, and bring them on Viewer 1." he said, taking a seat and looking over reports."
