Julie couldn't help but agree with commander Roman's assessment of the situation. This had to be some kind of act of sabotage, an act by someone rather skilled, she would say. They had used some kind of code that didn't fit with the structure of most languages, and one that not one contact she'd made could identify. To call it frustrating would be an understatement, but she had yet to give up on it. Surely someone had come across this before?
"Keep at it."
"Understood, permission to leave the channel open?", she requested, before instantly regretting it. Maybe this was just the opening that whoever was behind this was looking for to send in the really bad stuff. "It is possible our perpetrator could use the open channel to transmit further 'anomalies'", she then added, using Commander Sula's description from earlier.
It was then that Roman spoke up once again, reminding them that they were already in a sort of crisis. Effectively, they had no captain on either the ship or DS10, they had two important guests (including and Admiral) on board. They also had no one to turn to for assistance, unless someone other than the Federation was feeling nice. Then again, they had no idea who was behind this.
He then recommended they went to yellow alert, for fear of being caught 'with their pants down'. Julie rolled her eyes as an immature person snickered at the description, before the room became bathed in yellow. That would get the attention of both the commandant and the admiral, not to mention there captain, but it seemed that informing them of the situation was in hand.
The update then came through about why the PADD had overloaded, and to say worrying would be another understatement. Someone really knew what they were doing if they could even reprogramme the safety protocols, and her heart sank at the possibilities. What if the PADD and Jalloh's console had only been testers? There were a number of systems on the ship that would have catastrophic consequences should they be affected. Julie was starting to wonder if someone perhaps strongly objected to DS10's presence here in the Gamma Quadrant and was using the Talon to either cripple or destroy the station. Then again, if that were the case, then surely they would have attacked the station itself? The Talon had made its own fair share of enemies in it's time, not to mention Starfleet and the Federation itself. Maybe she was better off leaving the speculation to her betters.
"Apprise DS10 of our situation. Advise them they we may need emergency clearance to undock should these malfunctions grow catastrophic. After that, I want you to work with Jalloh to wipe whatever that is from our systems."
"Aye sir", Julie acknowledged her orders as she made to do just that. Once DS10 was aware of their situation, as well as the fact that they were beginning to evacuate non essential personnel. They would kind of need to know that, she figured, but at least they could go to the station and wouldn't have to float out in escape pods.
After that, she made her way over to where Jalloh was working on the ops console and leaned over him.
"Okay, how are we doing and where are we up to?", she asked him.
