Alyssa's body posture locked with her opponents as they acted as near reflections of the other. When one stepped aside, the other countered. Though the d'k tahg gave her rival a clear advantage, the coming conflict was far from lost. Alyssa hoped that advantage would also give the Klingon an overconfidence which she could take to her own advantage.
"This doesn't need to escalate any further," Alyssa started up.
"Of course it does not need to escalate," she answered. "I want it to. You will make a fine challenger."
"You are jeopardizing the peace between our peoples," Alyssa urged, though she knew that her own actions had not helped. It was too late to concern herself with that now. The best course was to end this quickly and as bloodlessly as possible.
"Do you believe the Federation would rush off to war and meet our fleets in glorious battle for the death of one officer?" the Klingon woman asked. Alyssa remained silent as she knew the likely answer. You simply do not place billions in danger for something as small as one woman.
"Nor would mine," she continued with a broad smile. "Enough politics, Commander. We are warriors. Fight!"
The Klingon twisted her hand so it brought the tip of her blade on a slicing motion along Alyssa's arm. Alyssa pulled back, but not before a jagged red line appeared along her forearm. A sharp pain traveled up her arm and left her distracted for a few, brief moments.
Fortunately, a larger distraction came. A scuffle from behind caught the room's attention as the medallion that had once belonged on Shargra's chest flew across the room and landed before Diran. Alyssa's rival watched the exchange and the young Starfleet officer brazenly take what was not his.
That was all the distraction Alyssa needed. While the Klingon spit a curse towards Diran, Alyssa switched the pan from her right hand to her left. In unison, she hit her balled fist against the Klingon's wrist while smashing the pan against the back of her hand. Instantly, the knife flew out of her hand and away from the conflict.
Using the momentum of her attack, Alyssa twisted the outstretched arm until the elbow was facing down. Without mercy, she flung the pan into the elbow, forcing the arm into an unnatural direction. As the Klingon shouted out in pain, Alyssa brought her balled fist into her rival's exposed chin. She fell back onto the ground, effectively ending the fight she so desired.
Alyssa turned back towards Tyne, ready to assist on his order.
