"Great. Maybe we should find some EVA su-"
Roman didn't get the opportunity to finish his thought as Tegan burst into a random sprint. Yolanda clinched her fist. She had been hoping that keeping the younger woman focused on a familiar task would keep her calm and rational. Sadly, it seemed, she was just as jumpy as a chuSwI. "Tegan!" Yolanda called after the girl, and Victor quickly broke into pursuit. A long sigh left Yolanda's lips. "Dammit!"
She glanced briefly at Bernard before looking back down the corridor at their retreating forms. "Maybe sedating her and putting her in a storage locker wasn't such a bad idea after all," she commented flatly. It certainly would have left Tegan in a safer position. And while there may have been ethical conflict to such a thought, it was hardly the time to debate the matter. "Come on," Yolanda said nodding in the direction of Victor and Tegan.
Breaking into a bit of a run on her own, Yolanda still had Victor in view. It wasn't until the sight of a diving Victor tackling Tegan to the ground that Yolanda's pace slowed. He had gotten to her, before she had reached an airlock hatch. Relief settled into the stomach of the Science Chief. She could hear the faint protest of Tegan arguing with Victor. Likely, making the case that she still had her wits about her, while her actions suggested otherwise.
And as quickly as relief had set in, it whisked away just as fast. Yolanda's eyes were wide and alert at the emerging figure. One arm made a sweeping motion to guide Bernard against wall as she drew her own phaser. She saw a woman... a Starfleet Officer, with a phaser rifle trained on the other half of the team.
It was somewhat of a good sign that the woman was using the phaser rifle. It suggested that she, at the very least, wasn't completely infected. Still, there was no telling how itchy that trigger finger of hers truly was. Yolanda withdrew her tricorder and flipped it open. A brief scan of that area of the station seemed to add to the Science Chief's frustration. "There's no way to flank her position... which means we need to try something else."
She looked at Bernard. "I need a few hypo-canisters of some sort of analgesic. How many can you spare?" Vargas asked. She turned her attention towards an maintenance panel and pulled it from the wall. She then briefly studied the pipes in front of her before finding what she was searching for. After pulling one lever, a shut off valve could be heard moving into place. And after turning another, a slight hiss could be heard as a gas was expelled from the chamber.
As it emptied, Yolanda closed the valve expelling the gas. She looked at Bernard to see if he were ready. "Now, if we introduce the analgesic into the pipe, and open this valve, it should have enough force to push the analgesic through the ventilation pipe and disperse from that vent a few meters from them."
Yolanda looked in their direction again as she waited for Bernard to help her introduce the analgesic into the vented pipe. The Starfleet officer was closer to the vent than either Tegan or Victor. Yolanda was hoping that the gas would be concentrated enough to cause a brief wave of disorientation. Given their weights, it stood to reason that Tegan and the other woman would be hit the hardest. She only hoped that Victor's training and mass would give him an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. At the very least, it could give both Yolanda and Bernard the chance to get closer. "Ready?" she asked Bernard.
