//"Yes Ma'am! Ensign Belle out!"//
//"So you're saying we should try to talk to her?"//
“Yes.” She probably had a better chance asking a dog not to fetch then in asking Nathan to be diplomatic. “Just…try not to make her angrier.”
"Deck 3, Section 11 Alpha, ma'am."
Wasn’t that where--
“I apologize for the confusion. Ensign Cunningham and Lieutenant JG Nivans are currently occupying a room registered to Lieutenant William Hunter. The third signature must belong to the civilian Nivans."
“But you said half-Betazoid?” Alyssa allowed the thought to sink in before realizing it was none of her business. There was half-a-dozen possible explanations to that, and now was not the time to pursue any of them.
"Anger begets anger. I'm fairly certain Lily can sense the anger of this crew toward her actions and it can only fuel her rage. When I was on my first detail the Captain would disarm certain types of aggression by expressing a deeper anger toward the same subject but...I'm not sure if that could work. I don't think anyone knows the specific thing she's mad at."
Alyssa shrugged. “Even if we did, it may not assuage her anger. And it doesn’t help that she sees us the way we see ants.”
"It doesn't sound like her father is with her anymore and this type of behavior can be isolating. I wonder if she's lonely."
“Lonely?” It was hard to imagine an omnipotent being lonely. You could create everything you ever wanted. Love. Family. Wealth. But maybe that was the problem. Creating something so artificial always had the ugly truth of being a lie. Alyssa would never want to force Nathan to love her. It wouldn’t be real. The fact that he chose to love her was what truly warmed her heart. He chose her. She chose him. That was the true power.
“If you are right, I doubt we can just ask her over for dinner,” Alyssa paced from one side of Coardi to the other. “She doesn’t want us. She would want her own kind.” So why wasn’t she with them? “Have they rejected her?”
//"Star to Jenison... is the child still aboard the Talon?"//
“Child?” Alyssa replied before opening the channel. Which child was he referring to? Lily? Certainly he would know she was still around. Was he asking about her own daughter? Bob…by…
Her eyes widened. Of course. Of COURSE. He was one of their own. He was alone, and if she was too...
Alyssa jumped to work, and stepped alongside Coardi. “Excuse me, Crewman.” She ran the scan herself, not wanting to dwell too much or say too much in the open.
“Jenison here. The child’s in Sickbay. I'll let Commander Sula know that he is safe."
