Physical Profile (height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc.): 5'11", 180lbs, light brown, blue, athletic build, strong jaw, thick head of hair.
Personality: Calm, focused, bashful, well spoken until overly flattered or overly tired. A straight edge type although he isn't afraid of a little trouble. Has been told he isn't quite what one would expect from a Starfleet helmsman.
Background and History: Born into a family where the love of flying was genetic. His family likes to say they're related to Wiley Hardeman Post despite the claim being debunked generations ago. Eugene is one of two children. His father was a pilot, his mother an aerospace historian. His older brother is also a pilot, though not for Starfleet. The war, political upheaval, and technological advancement is what drew Eugene to Starfleet, his ultimate design for his career is to become a test pilot for new crafts.
His entry into the Academy went smoothly, his education was taken seriously and his marks proved it. Naturally when it came to practical flying there was a calm confidence in himself but he wasn't so cocky to disallow mistakes from teaching him some valuable lessons. Anything and everything was welcomed if it meant being a better pilot. He participated in several extracurricular clubs and activities offered by the Academy which kept him incredibly busy between some serious study sessions. He even helped tutor other students.
Despite all of this, his record with Starfleet has been somewhat unremarkable. He was a dependable pilot, just like so many others, he was an obedient junior officer, like so many others, he'd navigated some critical space successfully, like so many others. Then a billet opened, one that many of his friends warned him not to take, the USS Talon. It was a career killer, that was, if you didn't actually die first. Eugene, however, saw it as an opportunity and jumped at the chance.
Sample Roleplay
"All I'm saying is just because two nacelles are better than one doesn't mean that three are better than two," Eugene countered to his replacement on the bridge. The two were often seen in debate which led to a lot of questions about their relationship but it was the challenge to their minds that bonded the two.
"Then four, since they're co-dependent."
Eugene rose from the helmsman's seat, although he'd been sat there for hours and hours he was reluctant to give it up so soon. His numb butt, however, felt like it was time.
"So then what about yaw maneuvering?"
"We're in flat space, Todd," his friend reminded him with a smirk, taking the warm seat.
The now off duty pilot pat his comrade on the shoulder. "Any timed maneuver by rolling means yaw. Bigger is better and you can't change my mind."
There was no response, only an exchange of grins.
"Same time tomorrow, Todd?"
Eugene nodded. "It's a date."
