Personality: Serious, not one to joke around with wild abandon, loves high energy sports and adrenaline pumping activities. Doesn't put up with those who try to skirt around the rules and can usually see through a lie.
Background and History:
Victor had as normal a childhood as any over-ambitious, high energy boy could, including the usual shenanigans, pranks, nonsense and tomfoolery. He learned early on the repercussions of such actions and, somewhere halfway through high school, he did a 180 degree turnaround, instead of ending up where many of his type were headed. He lived by rules and had to quickly adapt his mind and body to the ever-changing environment around him in a setting where few cared for such structure.
It was a slow evolution, one filled with hiding injuries from his parents, honing his physique, and eventually ending up as the alpha male on campus by the time he graduated. The lure of constant structure from an organization like Starfleet caught his attention and he quickly applied.
He was skipped over the first year due to an unusually high number of applicants, but he used that time to obtain valuable firearms training by an outside agency. The next year, he was accepted and started on his career in Security. As a peon Ensign, he was assigned on a variety of ships, a revolving door which didn't allow him much time to make friends. Thirteen years later, he found himself with several promotions under his belt and finally a ship to call home, a galaxy class Starship in the Beta Quadrant.
More times than he liked, they had to play peacekeepers on Coridan as the tenuous balance between the Tellarites and the Orions threatened the mining operations of the dilithium wealthy planet. Eventually, he was promoted to Commander and given a position as Chief of Security. While the political climate in the Beta Quadrant kept him occupied and he had finally made a handful of good friends, both on the ship and off, Starfleet decided his record was enough to give him a real challenge on the newly constructed Starbase Gamma Etimon. However, he was far from the station and Starfleet went through several Chiefs on the station before he arrived. Victor knew he was probably going to have to correct a lot of bad habits by the current staff, if his intel was correct; as soon as he arrived, he headed straight for his new office.
Shortly after arriving on SGE, Victor was transferred to the USS Talon as their Chief of Security. During the war, he found himself trapped on a disabled Klingon ship, which was found by foragers and Victor was sold as a display for an alien zoo where he remained until the crew of the Talon also became prisoners and they escaped.
As the Starfleet schism began to unfold, Victor sacrificed his safety so that the brother of the woman he loved could survive. As a carrier of the genocide organism, Victor was subjected to torturous brain surgery so that one side of the schism could gain control. Once rescued, it took a while for Victor to regain his speech and ability to walk.
SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
"What do you mean 'gone'?" Victor paused the data that was scrolling along the screen and he looked up at the Ensign who stood in the doorway, having been summoned by the new Security Chief.
"He left a few minutes ago. I think he might have sent you a message, though."
"Left."
The Ensign nodded, not really sure what else to say.
"He couldn't wait?"
"Um..."
"So, I'm arriving blind. No summary of his time, no head's up about anything?"
"Maybe his message?"
Victor shook his head. "I like hearing things while I can watch the person." He picked up a PADD and waggled it at the Ensign. "Something you should learn. Don't rely on these." Tossing it to the Ensign, he watched as the man fumbled with it before settling it in his hands. "A bead of sweat, a tremor of the lip, they tell you much more than what you can read here." He tapped on his console and brought up the message from the ex-Chief. Reading it quickly, he sighed. "Doesn't say much. You guys just got a new Captain? How many is that now? The station was only recently built."
"I-"
Victor waved his hand dismissively at the Ensign. "Water under the bridge. Tell me what you know about the station." This should be good.
"Me?"
"Sure." He leaned back in his chair, hands behind his head, feet on the desk. "Don't leave out any details."
No pressure...
