Anna squeezed into Quarks, having navigated through the debris outside. People were talking about a Bajoran who had blown up and Anna frowned at the improbability of it. If someone were wanting to Kamikaze the station, they would have chosen a better location. If they had wanted to take out an important dignitary, they would have chosen Liandra. If they wanted to create terror, they would have done it in a more crowded location. It just didn't make sense.
"Maybe he was just depressed," she quipped, rolling her eyes. Station life sometimes did that to a person.
"Doubtful," one of Lia's goons responded, "that blast was huge. It was meant for something more."
"Maybe," Anna replied. She was getting tired of having two... not just one, but two... security guards assigned to her at all times. She guessed it was so one could go use the bathroom and not leave her unprotected. "Maybe I should've gone on mom's ship," she thought for the thousandth time.
Approaching the bar, she noticed a change immediately. The fat Ferengi was not on his usual perch behind the bar. Instead, a woman was in his chair, intent on whatever it was on the PADD in her hand.
"Long Island ice tea," Anna said. She plunked down a few slips of gold-pressed latinum as she took a seat on one of the barstools and looked around. One of the Dabo girls gave her a wave and Anna returned the gesture. The woman had become a friend of Anna's, giving her money and clothes. Lia had offered, but Anna had been too proud at the time to accept. Only after trying to scrape by for several days on her own did she regret turning down the offer. Especially after seeing the clothes that had been given to her. She looked down at her outfit. It was more revealing than anything she had ever worn before in her life. She knew her mom and dad would definitely not be proud of their daughter right now.
