Scott listened to Senneh try to explain the situation between the two of them. He was reminded of how odd he’d found it trying to explain it to the Captain less than an hour ago, a situation that he was glad to not have to repeat – and one that he was most thankful that he had been able to do in the privacy of the Captain’s Ready Room.
He resisted the temptation to gaze lovingly down at the top of Senneh’s head, tracing the patterns in the strands of her hair. He instead kept his gaze fixed on Sig, not a hard stare, but a soft passive look as he searched for telltale signs of reaction as Senneh spoke. Scott couldn’t help but smile as she stumbled over herself to explain, it reminded him of how sweet she was.
The advice that sig gave was to be expected and Scott would have not expected any different. In many ways Scott could face a similar dilemma, but he knew that if he had to choose it would most likely involve large numbers of people in the abstract and not being face to face with one or two people. It was not a situation that Scott looked forward to, but it was gratifying to know that there were those around them who would help them to make the correct decision and if needs be make it for them. Such was the burden of Command.
“Thank you Commander,” Scott said, bowing his head graciously. “Perhaps we can return the favour to you sometime soon,” Scott added, gesturing towards the pot of still steaming soup. He looked to Senneh, seeking silent consent, “perhaps you would care to join us for dinner sometime soon?” He looked back and forth between them, “I have already asked the Captain and she has said she’d be more than happy. What do you say?”
