"Just find a place for it," Sig said, a smile tugging on his face. The stop at the station had allowed his team to get bored and they were passing the time reorganizing the department supplies to their liking. Out of respect for Commander Ericson, however, they were asking him after every decision. He tolerated it for a while, but after the umpteenth time, it was beginning to wear a bit thin. "Look," he laughed, "I'm sure wherever you put it will be fine. As long as you know where it's at when I ask for it." The medic nodded, happily placing items in an efficient manner. He knew not to touch the CMO's station, however. Messing with the Commander's workflow was never a good idea. Ever since they embarked on the Peregrin, the medical staff had worked well together. Sig sat back in his chair, surveying his domain. He wondered if their happy team dynamic would change with the arrival of the new nurse, Senneh Orim. Originally, he had balked at the idea of having someone so newly trained on the ship. However, the gentle side of him reminded him that everyone started somewhere. "And what better place to train, than on a brand new ship," he thought, folding his hands behind his head and leaning back in his chair.
A medic approached him, "where would you like this," he asked. Sig was about to give him a snide reply... didn't he just tell the man what to do... when he noticed the item. "Why is this here," Sig asked, gently taking it out of the man's hands. He stared down at it. He had been missing it since he unpacked in his quarters. Somehow, it must have been misplaced and packed with the medical supplies.
"Can I see," the medic asked. "I mean, it's okay if you say no. I mean... forget I asked."
Sig laughed. "It's okay. Just a momento from the past." He placed the small black object down on the table and activated it. A hologram of a young woman, hair black as night, eyes blue as the ocean, shimmered into view.
"Wow," the medic said, leaning close. "She's beautiful."
"Mmm," Sig said, his eyes locked onto the image, "that she is..."
