Though she had every intention to report to Commander Tavuk, Ava found herself walking toward the holodecks instead. There was still eight minutes before departure so she took a moment to go gather herself before facing the Chief. The last thing she needed him to see was her crying or screaming at the top of her lungs. Not that she would do any of those things, but being on edge, she figured she'd take the safe route and see to her emotional well being before accomplishing her duties.
Now standing in the middle of the empty holodeck, Ava raised her head and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath she tried to envision herself the Sahara desert, the sunlight beaming down on her face from above. The heat would have been intense, almost unbearable, but it felt like heaven to her. She was used to excavations in deserts. Donning her brown bulky pants, white button up and vest, she looked like a scientist right out of those old adventure movies. She didn't care about appearances. The quicker she could get a brush in her hand and her fingers in mounds of dirt the better.
With this thought in mind, Ava called up a program that resembled northern Egypt; one of her favorite spots. In the distance was a pyramid, its point erect yet crumbling year after year. Around her were tents, excavation sights and ample amounts of land to explore. Not caring that she donned her new uniform, Ava dropped down onto her knees and worked tenderly on a half exposed fossil. The imaginary sun beamed down on the back of her neck, but the heat was a far cry from anything remotely dangerous or real.
It was as she dug into the earth that her pulse began to lull and the tears of frustration became a figment of the past. The seconds ticked away and she forgot about her staff problems, her social flubs or that she was so very alone on this huge ship. It was just her and her brush and she was happy if only for a little while.
When she left the holodecks she was in better spirits.
End Ava
OOC: This thread won't last long because she'll have to report to her station before departure, but if anyone passing wants to come in and chat for a while it would be nice.
