Liz wasn't sure why it was her job to go check information kiosks on the promenade. Even if there was a feedback error in the computer system that ran them. Oh, that's right. Because this was a space station, and there was only a limited amount of things to do. After you finished reviewing staff assignments, room assignments for new arrivals, and reports, there wasn't much to do.
So, you ended up fixing minor errors in the computer system because you were just that bored.
She tapped through the system on the latest kiosk, searching for the error she knew existed, if she could just locate it. Again. She could just call one of her subordinates, have them finish out this job with the excuse that she had reports to look over. Which was technically true. But there was a vast difference between being stuck in her office and being out here, where at least there were people to watch if worse came to worst.
There it was. A few taps logged the error, sent the information to her tricorder, and then she was done. She stepped out of the way of a glaring customer, trying to smile and say something pleasant that sounded like an apology. Onething she most definitely disliked about being on a space station: there were so many non-officers you had to bow and scrape to because they were probably paying for something...and the last thing she wanted to do was get in bad with the local shop owners. Her life really would be hell then.
As she walked down the promenade to the next kiosk, she once again contemplated why she'd transferred. It had been a chance to get out, to see something new. Well, now there was nothing new, and it was as boring as stories of Sto'Vo'Kor. She almost understood now how people got addicted to the holodeck. When it was the only reprieve for mind-numbing boredom, you might get a little attached to it.
And here was another kiosk to check. Yay.
