Though her shift was technically over, Lafiel didn't really have that much to do about the Starbase yet, so she'd retreated down to the brig to try and get things in order. Her husband was working nearly every waking hour with the Engineering staff trying to get things running smoothly, and with the gardens and such not completed yet, there was little in the way of recreation for the Vulcan save meditating in her quarters.
She'd returned the phaser rifle back to the equipment locker, although she still kept a type 1 and type 2 phaser with her in case she needed them. But with the Senior Staff keeping an eye on Boribeth, there was little need for her to keep the heavy weaponry out. She quickly inventoried the brig area, ensuring that there was nothing missing, then began to look at the cells.
While she was no Engineer, she did have a significant amout of practical experience with containment forcefields, and as the components were already installed, the brig cells just needed to be calibrated in order to get them functional. It seemed like a logical way for her to spend her time, since at some point Boribeth was likely going to need to be arrested. While the plan for that eventuality was likely to have the woman sent to a Federation penitentiary on one of the nearby vessels, Lafiel didn't want to be caught unawares. She'd sent a request in to Engineering to have someone come and assist her with the process, but she wasn't sure if they would consider it to be a high priority at the moment.
Turning back to tap a few commands into the console nearest her, she erected the forcefield, then scanned it with her tricorder. Raising an eyebrow, as she realized that the forcefield was far more powerful than it was intended to be, she toggled it off, before attempting to recalibrate it.
