They met again in the mess hall, the day after the already legendary turbolift incident. It was awkward and Hunter had ended up spilling his omelet onto his boot. She helped him clean it up, they ended up sitting together for breakfast, and both had expressed a desire to skip the formal party and explore Etimon. Once back in his quarters, Hunter poured over the data they had on the planet, trying to decide where they should go. He was fascinated by the amber pools that contained the viscous solution that saved Commander Stetson, but he doubted she would want to waste her vacation studying goo. Still... if he could find a location nearby, they could accidentally stumble across one of the pools.
"Perfect," he mouthed at the computer. He smiled, transferred the data to his PADD, and walked to his closet. As he rummaged through his clothing, his hands brushed past the 'summer shirt' that he had worn once on the suggestion of Sig. It had been all too wrong, a joke by the CMO, but Georgia had thought it charming. He stood there, lost in thought for a moment, then shoved the shirt to the back of the closet, as he had done with his thoughts about her for the past few days. Choosing a simple gray t-shirt and khaki pants, he slipped them on and pulled on his hiking boots.
They met in the transporter room, which was sure to raise eyebrows, but he, as usual, didn't notice the looks from the operator. Once they were transported, the officer at the controls activated the gossip network and soon bets were flying once again.
He and Emmarie materialized at the side of a rushing river. The roar of a waterfall could be heard a short distance away, but that wasn't Hunter's destination. He smiled at Emmarie, and hefted his bag to his shoulder. "I brought dinner," he said. "Follow me." He lead her through the short, riverside brush, his destination already memorized. "It's not far."
