"Photons,"
The manner in which he said the single word was confusing to her. Photons were a simple enough concept for anyone who was Starfleet educated, and should have been child's play to him. But as she looked over at him, she realized the confusion in his tone was less in response to what she'd said, and more regarding whatever thoughts he was entertaining at the moment. She cocked her head to the side, studying him as he moved to sit beside her.
For a moment, she wondered if she'd misjudged him. If he was one of a small minority of men who were unwilling to make a move on a woman. She dashed that thought away quite quickly though, he didn't have the right temperment for that, or at least, she didn't think he did. The problem that Emmarie had frequently had in the past was that she could read nearly any man who was interested in her, but not any man that she harbored any feelings towards. In this particular situation, it meant that she was largely flying blind.
"Don't talk,"
She raised an eyebrow at the command, but did as she was told. As he crawled over to her, she leaned towards him, her lips meeting his in a kiss that was far less innocent then the one she'd given him mere moments before. There was an energy present in the air, an excited feeling that permeated the area and was only surpassed by the electricity of the kiss. Her heart fluttered within her chest, and her hands reached up to pull him closer to her, fingers twining through his hair. With all of her focus being on her career for so many months, it had been some time since she'd had a kiss that felt the way that this one did, and it left her somewhat stunned.
She broke away for just long enough to take a breath before kissing him once more, her mind absently noting that her decision to back off had been the right one. **This is so much better than whatever party it was that everyone went to,** she thought somewhat smugly.
