Character's Name: Aneela Fenir
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Race: Trill (Unjoined)
Physical Profile (height, build, weight, hair colour, eye colour, skin tone, race, etc.): Anne, as she is commonly referred to by her peers, is 5’8”, 130 pounds with bright blond, neatly cropped, neck-length hair and a pale complexion. Her gray-green eyes are set within a very intense, yet kind, set of facial features. She makes no move to cover the distinctive rust-colored ‘spots’ denoting her race: they are easily visible on the sides of her neck and head - even when wearing high-covering tops and uniforms - and run down her sides for the length of her body. She usually wears little to no makeup, even when attending formal occasions.
Birthplace: Planet Trill
Preferred rank: Lieutenant JG
Department: Specialist in Biological Sciences
Personality: Anne is an outgoing, expressive soul that enjoys being around other people; even more so if they happen to be of a different race from her own. Many find it hard to believe how so much boundless energy can fit into a single person. Her past acquaintances, if questioned on what they remember about her, would answer anywhere from overly friendly to mildly eccentric. She loves variety in every form, and would try nearly anything once just to see what reaction she would receive. She also, however, finds it quite difficult to hide her feelings over personal matters, and most find it exceptionally easy to tell when something is bothering her. She wears her heart on her shirtsleeve, so to speak, though she strives to keep this aspect out of business matters.
When at work, Anne channels her intensity towards finding out what makes living things tick from the inside out. When not on call, she has been known to dedicate herself for over two days without rest when following a potential path for discovery… and then subsequently collapsing. It is this extreme devotion that has given her mixed, though generally favorable, recommendations from past employers. She treats her career path less as a chore and more of a favorite personal hobby, and her work environment can sometimes be less professional than most would come to expect as a result, even if it only means a small stuffed bear on the highest shelf in the room.
Background and History: Anne is the only child of two unjoined parents who still live happily back on planet Trill. Her father is an experienced hiker, and runs a thriving business guiding clients safely up and down the planet’s renowned mountains, while her mother teaches physics at a local college. When she was younger, her father would bring back small insects and plant clippings from his trips for his highly inquisitive daughter to obsess over. As a result, Anne had an interest in all forms of life from an early age, and only developed it further by taking classes such as anatomy, chemistry, and physiology.
It was with little surprise that her parents saw her attend and graduate from the Trill Science Ministry with a degree in biological sciences. After which, she went on to accept a job offering for a planet-side occupation with Starfleet, in hopes of broadening her personal experience with humanoids and creatures of other races. After a few years of working with the folks at headquarters and realizing that her true opportunity was within the field itself, she reapplied to Starfleet in hopes of getting a position farther out among the stars.
It is also known, though the circumstances are considered private, that she did apply to Symbiosis Commission in an effort to become Joined. Unfortunately, her assigned field docent rejected her on uncertain grounds.

Anne reflected over the hectic past few days just after she had gotten the acceptance she had been looking for. However, she hadn’t expected it quite this soon! It was with tears she had said her goodbyes to family and close friends, and warm hugs to her familiar colleagues down at the Starfleet headquarters, telling them she’d visit as soon as she got her first leave. Now, looking over the diligently cleaned, empty office, it seemed that the last few hours of her stay on her home-world would be rather lonely. The one thing she didn’t want to see was any of her friends breaking down in front of her at the last minute. It was that sort of thing that would make her regret leaving more than anything else, and most certainly tamper with her enthusiasm for the upcoming unknown.
One discrepancy from the polished gleam of the metal counters and shelves caught her eye, however, and stared down at her reproachfully from atop a high cabinet. The sewn half-frowning face of an Earth-style teddy bear with a comically raised eyebrow of thick black thread appeared as if it was constantly about to scold her for something or another. It was a humorous gift from a workmate of hers a year or so back. He said it would remind her to take better care of herself when the rest of the sane world was asleep.
Anne smiled, standing on her toes in order to retrieve the bear. The bean-and-sand filling of its body sagged in her hands as the face seemed to say to her, ‘It’s not going to get any better with you sulking like this, you know.’
She actually laughed at the thought. “Well, as they say, misery loves company!” This said, with bear under arm, the door to her laboratory closed behind her for the last time as she made her way towards the docking station.
