“I'd say its almost biblically canon now.”
“The way I see it, any minute now the plague of locusts will appear,” Emmarie said. “Or perhaps four somewhat incorporeal horsemen. Actually, that’d be kinda cool. I’d like to get a good sensor read on the apocalypse.”
"That's not entirely true,"
Despite her best attempts to maintain a neutral front with other people around, Emmarie smiled reflexively, amused at Hunter’s timely entrance. Fortunately he’d missed the part of the conversation that was about him, although truly, after what the spider had recorded of the slumber party, his ego could use some deflating.
”Don't you think you should be in your quarters, where it's safe, during a red alert?”
“I have a new boss to impress,” Emmarie responded, picking up the padds. A boss whom would have been very impressed if she were able to figure out just what the hell their sensors were picking up. Emmarie sighed. Perhaps she should just ask Hunter and get it over with. Flipping on the top padd, she was not surprised at the content. “I’ve already read this one,” she said, trying to keep the whine out of her voice. Perhaps she should have waited a few months to give him the news. She resisted the urge to ask if there was a pop quiz.
She watched in amusement as he grumped about, inconvenienced by the red alert. She highly suspected that if the ship was in imminent danger of explosion that Hunter’s last breath would be spent lecturing the hull for its lack of integrity.
"There ya go, little guys. That's better, hm?"
Her heart melted a bit, in a way she would have never expected. it was funny how ever since her hormones started changing how much she adored the little moments that were indicative of his future as a good - albeit overprotective - father.
Unfortuantely, with that situation resolved, he would likely remember that she was still standing there, and hadn’t reported to her quarters as ordered.
Crap.
Perhaps it was time to work a bit harder on her next pip...
