Name of Celebrity: Christina Ricci
Background and History:
Boribeth comes from a normal home, one of the few people in the Universe who had a good relationship with her parents. This quality upbringing enabled her to keep a level head in a crisis...most of the time. While at the Academy, she met Torbek, whom she later learned was a Romulan undercover operative. During her cadet years, she watched over Admiral McCabe. While unconscious and highly medicated, he muttered secrets about his involvement with Section 31.
She completed Starfleet Academy but took a few years to shadow a top combat surgeon, learning his techniques. It was during this time that their training team, ordered there by Admiral McCabe, got caught in the crosshairs in the midst of a Caitian civil war. Boribeth's love at the time died accidentally at her hands and she held a grudge against all Caitians for a very long time.
Following the massacre on Cait, Boribeth was severely injured, losing her right leg and suffered catastrophic internal injuries resulting in her infertility. She traveled to a Romulan stronghold with Torbek for treatment and to escape the continued attempts to her life by McCabe. Through Torbek, she meets Varel (Romulan scientist involved in testing interphase cloaking devices). Events lead to Boribeth agreeing to turn on the Federation, as she has no love for Starfleet now. She blackmails McCabe to classify mechanics of her fake leg, preventing any Starfleet officer from knowing what it contains. Things quiet down for a while, but she is always looking behind her, expecting McCabe not to honor the agreement.
Boribeth returned to Starfleet and the physician in charge of her routine physical promptly disappears, having disobeyed orders and discovered her secret. Boribeth is promoted in his place. She rises quickly through the ranks, almost too quickly, and is soon contacted about her transfer to the USS Crudaigh. Before leaving, she and Torbek engage in a series of coded messages.
The Crudaigh leaves on a mission to establish top-secret gate technology, which Boribeth is dedicated to destroy. During the tour of the ship, and after seeing that the mission is indeed true, she sends coded data to Torbek. The wheels are in motion for the destruction of the gate. However, Boribeth falls in love with Jack Carter, the lead engineer and designer of the gate technology. She is torn. Follow the directives of the Romulans, or follow her heart.
Fate has other plans, and Boribeth, Jack, Liandra, and Greg become stranded with as away team on a planet for a year. When they are finally rescued Jack is reassigned to Earth. Knowing she cannot carry out her mission, and that she is a traitor to the Federation and to Jack, Boribeth leaves Jack, resigns her commission, and disappears from Federation space.
Later, she shows up on DS9 and gives Lia key information, exposing herself as a traitor but knowing that the information would help save the man she loved from harm. She had taken up with Colt and became his pawn. In a desperate act to save her friend, Lia foils Colt, but Colt has the last laugh and Boribeth became a vegetable, with Colt holding her memories in a device of his own design. After the Talon finally managed to arrest Colt and his brother Karl, the device was given to Lia by Dorian. Karl came clean and helped Greg return the memories to Boribeth, but Beth has been a changed person ever since. She clings to DS9 and her only friends, but yearns to be free and happy once again.
Her sanctuary became claustrophobic, however, especially after she confessed feelings for Lia's husband, Greg. Torn between staying and facing him everyday and the empty life on her own, she chose the latter and escaped to SGE using her cloaking device to get her onto the ship. She was found out, though, and thrown in the brig, where she waited to be transferred to a Federation prison.
After an escape, Boribeth returned to the gamma quadrant, confident that the unexplored regions could get her the peace she longed to find. However, she soon became caught up in dangerous game, finding a child and several high ranking officers who had been used as pawns, and having to decide between their safety and her freedom, all at the cost of her own sanity. Beth ultimately made the right choice and was sent back to prison, where she was deemed criminally insane. Only one person visits, an Admiral with his own agenda. Liandra, out of necessity for her high ranking position in Starfleet, has cut all ties with Boribeth.
Sample Roleplay:
Boribeth slipped out from under the damp sheets, careful not to wake him up. She stood by the side of the bed with her arms wrapped around herself as she looked at him for the last time. His strong jawline, the way his eyes crinkled at the edges. She would never forget him. Theirs had been a whirlwind ride, fast and intoxicating, but it was over. She had betrayed him and his life's work. Knowing he was still in danger, she had to tell Starfleet, even if it meant becoming a traitor to the Federation. A tear fell from her face as she leaned over, kissing him softly while he slept.
Stepping out of their quarters, she blinked at the sun as it rose over the horizon. Her bags were already in the transport ship, sent there secretly while he was at work the evening before. A short walk took her to the shipyard and onto the waiting vessel. "Got everything you need," the Ensign asked as she stepped onboard. She looked behind her, "no... but I can't bring it with me." He frowned at her as she passed him and sat down. The journey ahead would take some time. At warp 6, it would take the transport approximately two months to get to DS9. Eventually, she would go to the small quarters, but, for now, she just stared out the small window as Earth became just a dot in the inky black sky.
"I will always love you," she whispered, placing her hand on the window.
