Personality:
When Kinin likes you, you can have no better, loyal friend. When she dislikes you, watch out. Her barbed tongue is usually kept under tight control, but off duty she can let her opinions be known. She has a soft side, but she has to let you in first. Insecure at times, she can take criticism hard.
Background and History:
Kinin was born in Rura Penthe. Her mother was incarcerated there for crimes against the Empire. Her shame was upon Kinin, but they waited until Kinin was born, and then her mother was executed. She was placed with a family who gave her a roof over her head and food, but little else. Just after she became of age, word leaked out about the identity of her father. He was vying for a prestigious appointment and someone had done some digging. They tried to heap her dishonor onto him, all the while pushing Kinin into the center of the controversy. He, of course, denied it. They had never been joined. Kinin was a bastard child, they said. He denied that, too. Said he never knew the woman. They insisted on genetic analysis, but he refused. Kinin was ready to run... anywhere, actually, and the opportunity presented itself. Someone vouched for her to Starfleet of all places. With nowhere else to go, she went to Earth, took the tests, and passed. Before she knew it, she had a new family. They accepted her as an individual, not a House. Not the House of Dur'ahk. Her father was found dead not long after. Killed by his own hand. His body was burned quickly, with no one performing the traditional ritual.
During an incident involving Robin on leave at a Station, Kinin stumbled across a plot by a Klingon ship to steal the gate technology carried by the USS Crudaigh. Not in uniform, Kinin managed to accompany one of the Klingons on board their ship as a guest, only to be in over her head. Battered, bloodied, and raped, she escaped and returned to the Crudaigh. Embarrassed by Greg Barlow, the physician at the time, she refused treatment and became pregnant with Korrd. Soon after, she is transferred to the USS Sullivan when Starfleet decided to make major changes aboard the USS Crudaigh. Kinin gave birth on the Sullivan. Despite his origins, the child gave Kinin great delight. One month after he was born, the Stah'Kahr boarded the USS Sullivan. In a heinous act, one of the aliens slit Korrd's throat, killing him instantly. Kinin lunged at the aliens. The Captain of the Sullivan stunned Kinin with his phaser before she could even howl over Korrd's death. The action surprised the Stah'Kahr, giving the Sullivan an advantage and the eventual defeat of the alien invaders. Kinin blamed Robin Star for it all, until the two sorted through it on board the USS Peregrin.
During leave on DS9, Kinin mets Captain Dorian Alexander, the then Captain of the USS Zephyr. The two were pulled by primal forces beyond their control and, after an intense series of events, Dorian declared her "His" and asked her to be his Consort.

Sample Roleplay:
The air was filled with the sound of phaser fire, the smell of smoke, and the sight of her crewmembers falling all around her. "Get him out of here," Kinin shouted to a man carrying the still-breathing body of their Captain. As she watched them go, she could hear the approaching footfalls of reinforcements around the rocky outcrop. "Stay in formation," she said, addressing the security detail behind her, "don't break unless I give the word."
Shadows deepened as they waited. Their enemies had stopped, as if willing the crew to panic into error. Kinin could hear the fast breathing of the men and women behind her and she wished she could give them strength. They were all new, fresh out of the Academy, and they didn't deserve this.
A scuffling sound caught her attention, and she turned in time to see two men break ranks and run. They didn't get far, as they were gunned down in an instant. "What part of my order did you not understand," she hissed at the group. She could see the fear on their faces, not much younger than hers. Sighing, she said, "stay here," as she crouched down and made her way to the edge of the outcrop.
