Somehow, despite his initial screw ups in front of the Captain, Cadet Jonah had not been kicked off the station. In fact, he'd even manage to accrue some recreation time in between his studies and aiding the senior staff of the station. He hadn't had a chance to see the recreation area of the station, and he was quite impressed by the wide variety of holosuite programs, gym equipment, and other various amusements.
He saw a girl who looked to be a few years younger than him playing what appeared to be a game, and he stopped for a moment to watch. There was a holoprojection of a man, who seemed to be dancing along to music. Whenever the man made a dance move, the girl would duplicate it, or at least she'd attempt to. From time to time she would mess up, and the game would boo her. But when she was doing well, there was a chorus of cheering.
"That doesn't look so hard," Jonah said, before common sense could realize what he was saying.
"Oh? Well if it isn't so hard, then why don't you join me?"
He couldn't very well back down now. "Fine. I will," he said.
"Computer stop program and restart from the beginning," she ordered, and the computer obediently complied. "Let's see what you've got," she challenged.
Jonah swallowed as the program began. Then, he laughed. "Oh, this isn't so hard," he said, mirroring the first few sets of moves.
"Of course it isn't. This is the tutorial," she said dismissively.
"Oh." I have a feeling I'm completely out of my depths here, he thought. Still... he wasn't going to tell her that.
Of course, he wagered that his ineptitude would soon be unquestionable.
