She had been on the starbase only a few hours, and already Tashai Lelit was investigating the commerce section. To the casual observer she might have resembled a tourist of sorts, looking for trinkets to take back to Bajor, but Lelit's purpose was far more intense than that. She was examining the business prospects, looking at the sectors represented, the shops that at this point in time were getting the most consumer traffic - and the least.
It wasn't as if she had much choice of location, not at the outset; proximity to the spacedocks was essential. As of yet, however, she hadn't seen any other business offering quite the same service as Tashai Khitahei. This boded well. If there was a place for the company, all else would follow. Lelit didn't imagine it'd be easy, living offworld for the first time. She'd travelled, of course she'd travelled, but it wasn't the same as taking up permanent residence so very far from Bajor.
She couldn't afford to second-guess herself, however, particularly not when she had her daughter to convince of the benefits of this move. Kori was worried, Lelit could tell. She hadn't wanted to leave her home or her school, and could Lelit fault her for that? She was fourteen. At fourteen Lelit - well, she'd spent every spare waking hour helping fix up little ships that a lot of people might have said were only good for scrap, and she couldn't expect Kori to be just like her, but it was frustrating sometimes. She didn't like to think she'd raised a child bereft of ambition.
Lelit quickly put the thoughts from mind. Perhaps this starbase, Gamma Etimon, would be good for Kori, help her find something to care about. In the meantime, she ought to turn her attention back to the task at hand. Kori was off exploring and shopping. Lelit had her research. She had meetings to arrange. It was always advantageous to acquaint oneself with the people in charge before you had to make any requests of them.
She continued her walk, carefully noting down anything she considered to be of relevance, until her attention was caught by a bright sign. Pi in the Sky. She didn't have the first idea what it meant: her grasp of Federation Standard was fairly strong, but tended towards the literal, and so nuances and colloquialisms were sometimes lost on her. It was obvious enough, however, that it was a bar, and if Lelit was to be living here, that made it worth looking at more closely.
Maybe she'd find someone whom she could soundly beat in a game of tongo. Her Ferengi associates had introduced her to the game years ago, and much to their dismay, after a few dismal defeats she had picked it up rather quickly. Failing that, a glass of good Bajoran springwine would do her good after the long journey. She made her way inside and took up a stool at the bar, glancing about her curiously and wondering if she had that obvious newcomer look about her. Her clothes were distinctly Bajoran in style, long dress and cardigan in red and burnt orange. For a moment she was content to simply watch, looking for someone who might be amiable to conversation.
