Lieutenant Braddock moved through Engineering examining the readouts from main fusion reactor. Her eyes studied the real-time readings and the occasional flux. Sighing, she lowered the PADD and turned her eyes towards Ensign Bray, whom had contacted her. It was the ensign's comm that she received as soon as she set foot on the station. Talk about timing. She allowed the others to escort their prisoners to the Brig. Personally, she would have preferred to have been there when Esohn took up residence in his new cell, but knew that Bray wouldn't have contacted her unless the woman thought it was absolutely necessary.
"These readings suggest that the reactor is fluctuating a few hundred cochranes above normal," Braddock commented. "They're still within safety parameters, but I can see that they have been increasing." The Lieutenant sighed. Her hands moved across the PADD as she brought up the current duty roster. "Has anyone reported any damage or problems with these fluctuations?"
Bray shook her head. "Nothing more than flickering lights on various decks," she reported.
Braddock nodded. "I see Saurik is the ranking engineer on duty. Where is he?"
"He took a team into Jefferey's Tubes to monitor one of the sites of the fluctuations personally," Bray replied.
Henrietta tapped her commbadge as she spoke into the air. "Braddock to Saurik," she said.
//Saurik here, Lieutenant. How may I assist you?"// replied the Vulcan.
"Ensign Bray just apprised me of the situation. Run a level 2 diagnostic, and keep me apprised of your findings," said Braddock. There was a sudden chime from her PADD. Braddock's fingers moved along the screen. Her eyes examined the readings that were now being displayed. "There was just a brief spike on the security level... though none of the systems appear to be effected." Braddock swallowed before speaking once more. "Any idea what's causing this?"
//Not yet, sir,"// replied Saurik. //Presently, the number of variables to consider to accurately ascertain a sound hypothesis have yet to be truncated. It could be anything from a fracture in an ODN relay to malware downloaded from a holosuite program."
Such a lengthy explanation knew that the Vulcan simply didn't wish to use the words 'I don't know.' "Very well, continue with your diagnostics. The moment you learn anything, or the moment any reports are made of something more serious than flickering lights is made... I want to know about it. Braddock out." As the comm channel closed, her eyes turned back to Bray. "Take a team to the security levels and overlook every system in that area. I don't want anything operating with more than a .04% variance from spec. Understood?"
The younger ensign nodded and then proceeded to carry out Braddock's orders. A long sigh escaped the lips of the Chief of Operations as she turned and headed towards the closest turbolift.
