"What th' hell was that?!" Adam's first words upon awakening were not calm. They were also not quiet. What he yelled at the top of his voice, in full panic mode, echoed through his quarters. That is, until he realized who was still lying directly underneath him. Naked. His eyes widened even further, if that was at all possible, and he turned his head in one direction, then the next, expecting Alora to be standing there with a soup mustache watching.
"Thank god for small favors," he muttered when he realized she was not there. "Ziana?" His hand went to her softly freckled face. "Wake up. It's a dream." Her body was completely limp and her head turned to the side with the slightest touch. "Ziana. Come on, wake up." After trying unsuccessfully to bring her back, he slipped away from her and covered her lightly with the sheet. Padding to his closet, he put on a pair of khaki shorts and a black t-shirt. As he sat down on the bed, his hand brushed a strand of hair from his eyes. He had to find help, but he was reluctant to just leave her behind.
He probably sat on the bed for a good five minutes before deciding to take action, but he eventually tried the comm, scribbled Ziana a note with a grease pencil on the back of a PADD that he left in a prominent place for her to see, then headed for the door. It slid aside much slower than usual, an indication that things were not well on the ship. As he stepped into the corridor, he saw several other officers, all in various states of stress. One crewmember was sobbing uncontrollably against the wall. "Dreams," Adam said. "Just dreams." As much as he wanted to help, he kept going. He needed to get to engineering. If there was anyone who could fix the ship, it was Cobus, and there was no doubt in Adam's mind that he would be in his department.
End Adam
