As soon as the Talon arrived at SGE, Xeira went to the recreation area. She was tense and needed to blow off some steam, and there was no better way to do it than exercise. She’d briefly considered inviting Grace to come with her, but the ship’s computer had said she was in Sickbay. She’d changed into a sports bra and capri-style workout pants, and her brunette hair was pulled back into a messy bun. She walked up to a terminal screen, and looked at the list of classes that were available. Perhaps a class would be a good way to meet some new friends. Sure, they wouldn’t necessarily be on the Talon, but the ship got back to SGE often enough.
She scanned through the list, overwhelmed by the amount of options that were available. Yoga, hot yoga, bikram yoga, pilates, pilates for medical officers, core training, salsa dancing, Klingon pain stick twirling, Vulcan inverted meditation, Bajoran martial ballet… Finding one that appealed to her, she replicated the necessary equipment, and gleefully bounced to the classroom.
When she arrived, her eyes widened at the sight of the instructor. The woman was well built, with muscular thighs that could probably crush a watermelon (or a man’s head) without much struggle. “Alright ladies, let’s get our shoes on,” she said.
The shoes Xeira had replicated were impressing: sky high heels made of a transparent material, with a hologram of a galaxy in the heel. She stood up somewhat awkwardly, watching her expression in the mirror. She looked like a baby giraffe trying to stand for the first time. Still… the heels made her butt look fantastic, and she nodded approvingly.
“Welcome to Orion dancing 101,” the instructor said. “We start with the very basics and continue into advanced techniques. The first thing we’ll be starting with is walking in your heels. Balance most of your weight on the balls of your feet, and place one foot in front of the other, like so.” The instructor demonstrated the walk, placing each foot on the same “line” so that her hips swayed, her generous backside shaking pertly.
“Damn,” Xeira caught herself saying, then flushed a bit. The instructor didn’t seem to have heard her, which was the important part.
“Heads up, shoulders back. Think of it as pushing your chest out. This will counter the imbalance you have while walking. Come on now, you try!”
Xeira duplicated the instructor’s directions, feeling like one of those femme fatale women from mystery holonovels. Part of her felt silly; she wasn’t really the sort to parade her assets around in such fashion. That, and her feet were slipping all around. Still, when she wasn’t slipping and she caught her reflection in the mirror, she was happy with what she saw. If I walk around the science lab like this the lab techs will be drooling all over themselves.
“Alright now, you have the walk. Part two: the dip. The dip starts out a lot like a squat. Bend at the hip hinge, don’t bend your knees too much until you’re almost all the way down. Let me see you try.”
Xeira concentrated on squat execution. She tried to keep fit, so she was no stranger to the exercise. The instructor came up beside her. “Great form, just watch your facial expression. You’re sexy. You’re a beast. A feline on the prowl. That constipated expression is so not cute.”
“Yes ma’am,” Xeira said. The instructor walked around, providing instructions to several of the other students too, before returning to the front of the room.
“Now, when you go down, roll your pelvis. Pretend you’re a man, and you’re thrusting your hips as you descend.” She demonstrated quickly, squatting down, sticking her posterior out, then popping it back in. “The sex appeal is all in the pop, you’ve got to get that down.”
Xeira nodded, then did her best attempt at emulating the gesture. Sweat was already beginning to bead on her brow. This is way harder than it looks.
