Personality:
Tahp is caring and was the moral center for the mutated Etimonians before they were found and given a new life by the new Hezak. Having lived her life as a mute, she developed a very expressive face and body language. She was extremely loyal to Etimon and payed a high price in order to keep the royal bloodline safe. Now, after a life of seclusion, she is excited and optimistic for her future, but she may at times feel awkward and slip into silence out of habit. Usually, she just can't stop talking, especially after having spent the majority of her life mute.
Background and History:
Tahp was born near the largest Ornah pools, but the gelatinous creatures couldn't cure the genetic mutations that were flowing through the blood of a large population of Etimonians. Most of these mutants were killed, but many were hidden away, a dark secret kept from the new Hezak, until they were finally revealed during a power bid by Esohn who vowed to kill the future heirs and replace them with his own. Tahp and another Etimonian woman, with the help of the Hezak's half-sister, Shahn, sacrificed their own aumu, fooling the Vildar into thinking that he had succeeded.
After being discovered, and under the expert hand of an SGE physician, Tahp's mutism was cured. She has spent the past year learning to speak both Etimonian and Universal Standard. Her life without speech developed her other senses, especially her vision, making it the most acute of all her people, a trait Starfleet hopes to exploit with her addition to the Talon.

"The deeper in the quadrant we go, the stronger the energy," explained Admiral Phillips. "It keeps growing, changing everything we know about our galaxy."
The scientist to whom he was speaking shook her head and glanced across the room to the small, spotted woman who was sitting quietly in a shielded chamber. Tahp's eyes were unblinking as she concentrated, but finally she closed her lids over violet eyes and rubbed them. "She's too young," the scientist objected.
"No more than some that we have already sent out there," Phillips explained. "Etimonians age slower, too. She may look like a child, but she is more mature than many realize."
"She's not Starfleet."
"No," he admitted, then smiled. "But neither are many of those on this roster." He drummed his fingers on his PADD. "She will adapt."
"She will get lonely. It's not fair to her."
Phillips laughed. "We're not forcing her. Besides, it's my decision." He walked over to the chamber and toggled the console nearby to pause the simulation.
Tahp looked up and smiled at the man. "I am almost done," she said.
"You're doing well," Phillips nodded. "When you are done, you are going on a journey."
The thought of doing something off of Etimon, or even SGE, was exciting but Tahp turned back to the device in front of her. "Continue," she said. After he resumed the test, she put her fingers back on the controls in front of her as the energy flowed around her once again.
"She's perfect," Phillips said as he walked out. "See that she makes it onto that transport in an hour."
Several hours later, Tahp watched with awe as the mouth of the wormhole opened up. She saw the swirling colors, the flux of energy and, part way through, she took in a surprised breath as a semi-opaque hand raised in greeting. Tahp looked around at the other passengers, but they seemed nonplussed by it all. Not wanting to cause a scene for something that was obviously ordinary, she put her hands back in her lap as the transport was expelled out of the wormhole and past DS9. She had much to learn.
