How did you find us?
Hard to say how to started. I was randomly searching through web pages. At one point I was looking at Farscape's Talyn ship, and was wondering if Star Wars and Star Trek had any similarly named ships. I typed in this variation of "Talon" and came across this site. Having RP'ed on other sites before, I recognized what you guys do here and it garnered my attention.
Personality:
Generally speaking, Kylo is primarily extroverted and enjoys being around other people. Having grown up in a decent sized city on Earth, he's learned the value of not only the individual, but also the group. He's a modest person when it comes to taking credit for things, but when his work is in play, he's very prideful, to a fault. He's inexperienced, being fresh out the academy, so he is a little timid when thinking about the Great Beyond. With that said though, he still has that sense of adventure that most Starfeet officers have.
Background and History:
Kylo comes from a civilian family. His father, Jared Renn, owns a fashion studio and his mother is a nurse working for a local hospital in St. Augustine. Kylo has two siblings, an older sister (who is also in Starfleet) and a younger sister (who has aspirations to enlist). With all of their needs provided for, the kids had almost every opportunity growing up. Both girls were were avid soccer players. His older sister Kaylee was also involved in their school's swim team. Kylo himself played football and baseball growing up. It was thankfully always a family gathering.
School always came easier to Kylo than it did to others in his family. He caught onto concepts much more quickly but still spent a lot of time studying and perfecting methods. For the most part, he did very well. He learned early on the difference between friends and acquaintances and managed to make one very good friend, Jackie Maxwell. The two were the best of friends all throughout high school. They did just about everything together, the good and the bad. When they got older, they both enlisted in Starfleet, but Jackie did not pass the entrance exams and was therefore disqualified. She was invited to reapply the next year and was accepted. Though a year behind him, Kylo kept in close contact with Jackie and they helped each other through a lot of the difficult times. At the Academy, Kylo studied computer systems, in a hopeful pursuit of becoming an ops officer.

Kylo awoke to a somewhat violent tap on the forehead.
"Wake up, idiot! You're going to be late for your shift." It was Jackie, who had once again broken into his room, a task he to this day still hadn't figured out how she managed it.
Kylo jolted out of bed and tripped over his own feet. As he lay, face-planted, on the ground, Jackie leaned back on the bed and crossed her arms, a wide grin on her face. Kylo looked at the chronometer next to his bed. It was only 0600.
"Get out," he said annoyed.
"No!" she said playfully. "You need to get up and take me to breakfast. I don't have a boyfriend anymore, so you'll have to do."
Kylo sighed. "How many is that now? Five...this month?" He shook his head. "You're going to have settle at some point." He groggily got out up and went into the bathroom.
"The only man I'm ever settling for is you," she called out from the other room. "And that's only if we're over thirty and desperate."
Kylo rolled his eyes, looked in the mirror, then out the viewport. Space was big! He still couldn't believe they had made it onto a ship, a couple of kids out of Florida who knew next to nothing about how small their little world was. It was fascinating thinking about the wonders they had read about and the marvels the had yet to see. It was only the first step.
Suddenly, everything went dark. He couldn't see in front of him for about three seconds and emergency lighting kicked in. Kylo's training started to kick in. "Jackie, are you alright?"
"I was just about to ask you the same thing," she responded. He moved back into the room and quickly put a uniform on. He said, "We better head to the ops center and try and figure what's going on."
They left his quarters for the walk to ops. Upon arrival, they saw several crewmembers eagerly working, trying to figure out what the situation was. As they approached their Department Head, the Vulcan woman turned and said, "The computer core is offline. We are attempting to isolate systems and regain control. Take these." She handed them both power cells and pointed to two terminals. "Activate those consoles and help get power back to engineering."
Kylo and Jackie went over to the consoles and got them running. They began to isolate power conduits and relays to regulate power flow between the core and engineering consoles. As was the usual, engineering was trying to activate things on their own, which hindered procedures. Jackie's console beeped. "I've got some of the starboard side consoles functioning. Relaying information and requests now."
Kylo looked over at her. "Looks like the bridge is in one piece too. They've just sent a message to my console." He looked over towards his Department Head. "Commander, the bridge is requesting your presence."
"Acknowledged," the Vulcan said.
