Cargo Bay Two was rather spacious. Far more spacious than the Solstice cargo bay had been so this gave the efficient young lady a lot to work with. Those little steps of her boots echoed against the rafters as the computer expert made her way into the belly of the bay with a schematic of the space in on the PADD. Since receiving the parameters of this particular operation, she had been crunching numbers. The industrious little thing had to reschedule several items, but in this case she was excited to do so. This was for science and being the part of testing something new. Those blue eyes gleamed as myriad of details filled her mind and her screen.
Caroline would turn around and pace a square of the spot that would need the force field. There would need to be a frame, a base, an extra console or two, a small sturdy replicator or a small industrial replicator which ever one could be had. The list continued with a couple of external generators as the young lady thought tapping into the ship’s power would be a security risk considering the project. Unfortunately she wasn’t sure how much power the replicator was going to need for the project much less access to the raw mass to produce the compound. The list continued to grow as she examined several items floating in her head.
The following list would be sent to Lieutenant Jayde Franks along with Ensign Adam Cross and their Chief to requisition if possible. If not some items might need to be crafted by hand.
A Multitude of various gauges of fiber lines.
3 Micro harness for standard console.
Two standard consoles
One console shell for a dumb terminal
One replicator possibly a small industrial model.
Replicator Mass
Environmental components
Level 10 force field capable components
Sensors
Two plasma generators
This was accompanied by a base schematics of containment cube and valid reasons for needing these components. Smaller components the technician can replicate. It was possible more components or equipment maybe needed in the course of discovery.
The base and frame would be replicated with the large industrial replicator and welded together with hull technology. The idea was to create a self- contained environment to synthesize this compound. The safety of this would keep the interesting from not only back feeding into the power supply, which would be very bad, but also to keep it from back feeding into the computer core. The containment unit being built could be transported out of there quickly as a single whole.
The algorithm and configuration adjustments according to initial data would be very complicated and the on the fly changes the Commander spoke of would require split second timing. The little lady continued examining the situation as she entered information into her PADD. Those bright eyes of excitement soon turned into a furrow of concern as she worked out the scenarios she saw from several angles and still came up with one angle that would garnish the most success. This definitely needed more than one set of eyes for sure. She thought of Luis for a moment or two before taking a deep breath and exhaling as she continued.
To the Science department the following is requested:
“Request program data on compound being replicated for study, Environmental requirements and range of environmental needs to exceed expectations by 20%, any further data that would be beneficial for a smooth replication of the compound. “ Included in the request were the schematics of the containment cube design and technical protocols proposed to be put in place. The containment cube would have the replicator and the dumb terminal to perform the delicate program adjustments, consoles outside of the containment unit for monitoring the level 10 force field and needed environmental fluctuations, estimated power needs and preliminary transporter protocol to be completed upon completion for the transporter to have a matrix of the containment cube on standby. Lieutenant Liz Sur'shess was copied in with the request.
The crew that came in she provided instructions on constructing the force field frame and environmental injectors to correct temperatures within the enclosed space. The objective was containment and safety in case things turned interesting. Caroline would do her best to mitigate any chances of interesting occurring. Not that she didn’t like interesting, but this type of interesting would not bode well. The crafty little lady was sure that this kind of interesting would end spectacularly; however, the finger tapped the temple as that analytical mind was sure the powers at be would appreciate this part of the ship be kept intact. The craving for caffeine pervaded all thought and she went to the replicator as she punched in her order. The habit of performing manual ordering was a long honed skill. It was a very rare site to hear that soft silken sound from those lips order anything by voice.
“Lieutenant, what’s the tolerance on this? “ One of the technicians came to her with the PADD.
Caroline spoke quietly to him as she pointed the tolerance out. It was a very slim margin “.000011157. There is very little room for error. Let me get my welder. “ With that in mind, she went to her tool case and pulled out something more used for engineering than for computer repair while strapping on a tool belt. Maybe all that work on the Solstice would pay off. Double strength Raktijino in one hand and the welder in the other she pressed forward boldly.
