I came across your site a couple of months ago, but starting a new job made me choose not to join at that time. Now that I have the ability to make the commitment, I thought I'd give it a go.
Personality:
Some would define Jason as a tormented individual, given his heritage. Even as only a partial Vulcan, some in his family have held him to certain "high" standards that one might not necessarily attribute to humans. For the most part, he's lived up to the hype, given his sharp mental acuity and natural self discipline. Being mostly human, he's given in to the use of emotions, but he's been able to not be as conflicted as one might imagine. He finds a blend between the logic instilled in him by his mother and maternal grandmother, a half Vulcan and pure-blooded Vulcan, and his emotions that have led him to become a fairly balanced individual.
Jason isn't one to get angry or even frustrated. That's not to say it hasn't ever happened, but through self-discipline, he often notices that things happen for a reason, and to get upset about them is...illogical, as he would say. Overall, Jason is a calm, friendly individual who is confident in his abilities and will one day, make a great leader within Starfleet.
Background and History:
Jason was born in the Raal Province on Vulcan on July 3rd, 2381. His mother, half-Vulcan scientist T'Vel Baxter, was a Xenomythologist and anthropologist, based on Vulcan. His father, the then Lieutenant Theodore "Ted" Baxter, was a Senior pilot instructor at Starfleet Academy. After Jason's birth, T'Vel moved to Earth to make the family whole in one place. On Earth, Jason excelled academically from an early age. Under the tutelage of first his mother then his classroom instructors, Jason began learning many advanced topics in a variety of fields in his preteen years. His interests always fell to Starships and Starfleet. The connection he had with his father inspired him to be all he could be and achieve at the highest standard. While his mental acuity was high caliber, that did not deter him from putting forth the effort of studying and truly learning his source material. At the age of sixteen, he passed the entrance exam into Starfleet Academy and started his career as an engineering cadet.
His academy years were a breeze to him. School in itself was exhilarating and he found that being among his peers (of all academy ages) was a rewarding and challenging environment to live in. Most people didn't know that he was Vulcan, which he preferred to keep it that way. He didn't want any special treatment. His coursework marks for the most part were high. In his engineering and basic science courses he scored in the ninety-seventh percentile. In standard piloting, in the seventy-third percentile. In basic medicine and tactical training, in the fifty-fifth percentile. Now, given that the Academy only accepts the best and the brightest, scoring in these areas was quite an honor. He graduated in 2401, earning a commission as an ensign.
Jason's first assignment was as a warp core specialist aboard the relief medical ship, the USS Cape Town. During his two year stint on the Cape Town, the Olympic class ship was constantly busy, providing relief to victims of planetary disasters and after war rebuilding efforts. In his time there, they visited fourteen planets in different systems, spending one to three months providing the offered relief. While his primary concern was always the Cape Town's core, Jason tried to keep abreast of the new research and development going on at Starfleet Engineering, at least, whatever he was privy to. Once or twice, he even participated in the testing of new technologies with his Department Head, Commander Willis, and CO, Captain Mayweather, who had a history as an engineer. As he reached the two year mark of his career, Commander Willis was offered a position at the Starfleet Corps of Engineers to work first hand in the field. He offered Jason a position with him, which Jason took.
Over the next seven years, Jason worked closely with Commander Willis, forming a lasting bond with him. Jason was part of the development of new ship designs, weapons creation, and even some medical advancements. He spent roughly three of the seven years on special assignment, implementing new technologies and gathering field data. He was pleased to have had so many great experiences and the ability to meet a countless number of people. He only hoped that the rest of his career would be so fantastic.

Sample Roleplay:
The sound of the warp core was always a soothing sound to Bax. He always felt right at home in the engineering section of virtually any ship. To a certain degree, that essentially meant he had a countless number of homes away from home, but really, who was counting. Currently, he had a job to do. Commander Willis had sent him to the USS Phoenix, an Akira class cruiser, to install and test a new shielding system and impulse manifold. Hopefully, the tests would yield positives results. Their goal was to permanently increase shield strength by twenty-eight percent (based on simulated averages) and allow the ship to be more manueverable in a firefight. Both were a welcome addition to any Akira class ship, given what those class ships were typically tasked with undertaking. That, he knew.
His current new liaison to the Phoenix crew was Lieutenant Bannik, the Assistant Chief of Engineering. She was a firecracker, that was for certain, but she knew her stuff. It had been a pleasure to work with her the last several days, especially since from day one, Bax had started on her good side and never swayed from it. She was most definitely an ally in an "alien" environment.
"Jess," he said to Bannik. "I think we should increase the plasma flow to the shield matrix. We need more power."
She scoffed at him. "That will overload a matrix that took three solid days to build."
"I'm not gonna let that happen," Bax said. "I've been working with this system a lot longer than you have. Give me a chance to show off."
She shook her head. "I swear to all that is Holy, if you blow another conduit....."
"Pfffft, that was one time, and not even my fault," he pleaded. "Next time, keep your ops officers working in their own department."
She scoffed again and walked off to the other side of engineering. As she walked away, he saw a smile curve on her lip.
To no one in particular, he said, "Hmmm....I think I have a date tonight."
Bax grinned.
