Personality: Born to the prestigious Marayn family, she was groomed from young age about how to behave in public. She is prim and proper when around others, displaying many of the more nefarious characteristics behind closed doors. In that, she is almost two people. One mannerly, respectful, and pleasant, the other cunning, vicious, and scheming. Though ostensibly she works for the benefit of the people of Cardassia, she also has her own circumstances firmly in mind with all she does.
She has many allies and friends, but a near equal number of enemies. She wouldn’t have it either way, and even those she counts as friends are still kept to some degree at arms length. Her father taught her a great many things, and she she is cautious in her dealings. She is still young, and one of her biggest considerations is making the right decisions to maneuver her career the way she wishes. Her aspiration: the one position her father could never hold. Castellan.
Her style of dress, her hair… all designed to give others the impression that she’s progressive, and open. Underneath lies a sea of duplicity, the depths of which no one has ever known.
Background and History: Born to the prestigious Marayn family, Amalia had a tremendous amount of responsibility and expectation placed upon her from a young age. Educated in the best schools Cardassian had to offer, with additional classes on etiquette and other such social graces, she didn’t get much time to just be a child. Her mother died shortly after she was born, her father never remarried, and her eldest brother took on a military path against their father’s wishes. As a result, it was her destiny to force a path through the political strata of Cardassian culture. When she was little, she hated the pressure. Hated having to be perfect: even more perfect than anyone else in Cardassian society. But she was forced to admit that where others were destroyed by pressure, she was forged into something better.
There was no dating or social life for her when she graduated from her mandatory education. There were prestigious colleges, and secret clubs where alliances were forged and lesser folk were broken. Sure, there were a few men here and there, but those were largely conquests, power trips, and politically smart.
From there she entered the political life, her name and her connections opening doors she never could have dreamed of. She established herself as a candidate for the disenfranchised of Cardassian society, all the time espousing many opposing beliefs. But whatever it took to get ahead in the world, she would pursue.
Through dint of hard work and knowing the right people, she has become a member of the prestigious Detapa Council. But… how will she establish herself there well enough to become its head?
DS10 and the Gamma Quadrant have alluring possibilities. Perhaps she can find a way to make a path that will ensure she achieves all she ever dreamed of.

Sample Roleplay: The Council chambers were empty. She wasn’t supposed to be here, but she’d conveniently arranged for one of the guards to be away. The electronic detection systems were more difficult, but everything was easy when you knew a guy. And the speech notes that one of her fellow Councilors had written was unprotected on a padd sitting on the desk. The information was quickly transferred to her own device, before she departed, affecting an air of calm detachment that prevented anyone from being too suspicious of her motives or why she was around so late. Then again, there weren’t many in this building who would have questioned her presence. A known workaholic, it wouldn’t be the first time she was near the Council chambers this late at night.
Slipping into her office, she initiated a transport. 1934. Nearly the same time she left every night. Reappearing in her bedroom at her home, she looked down at the padd in her hand.
“What is it?” Asked her aide, seeing the telltale signs of mayhem in his employer’s eyes.
“Dakar’s speech for tomorrow. With this, I’ll be able to rebutt all of her points,” Amalia said. “She’ll never be able to get her motion to carry. Her flippant belief that the chambers are an impenetrable fortress will be her downfall.”
