“Archer. Pike. Kirk,” Tegan paused with three fingers held up in front of her chest. She shut her eyes and started picturing faces. “Spock. Harriman. Sulu…uhhhhh…what’s her name?”
“Ten seconds remaining,” The computer announced.
“I KNOW!” Tegan exclaimed, as if the computer would be affected by attitude. “What’s her name? Enterprise C. I can see her face!
The computer began to signal the last five seconds with short tones. Tegan began to panic, lessening her chances of remembering the facts some close to mind. A depressing tone sounded cuing the end of the round. Tegan groaned as the computer announced her failure to complete the challenge.
She waved her hand in the air dismissively. “Oh, just tell me who I missed.”
“Captain Robert April. Captain Willard Decker. Captain Rachel Garrett—“
“GARRETT!” Her fist hit the seat of her chair.
“Captain Jean-Luc—“ The computer stopped as Tegan cut it off.
“Blah, blah, blah. New game,” Tegan search the database for a satisfactory alternative. Her search lasted only a moment before helm interrupted. Straightening in her seat, Tegan hit the comm system.
“Commanders, we are approaching Gamma Outpost 13.”
Moments later, Tegan took the runabout out of warp. The vessel turned to place the outpost dead ahead. Tegan eyed the sleek contours of Starfleet’s newest design of space laboratory. It reminded her a lot of the Regula class stations, though updated and redesigned for maximum efficiency with fewer personnel.
Her brow furrowed. "No response to hails."
It didn’t take her long to notice how dark the station appeared. For a facility of sixty-six, she expected there to be more lights. Even the main deflector array wasn’t lit. Something was…off.
“The orbit of the station has decayed from standard protocol,” Tegan reported. “Main power is offline, and I’m barely reading much from secondary systems.”
“Life support is still online.” Tegan looked up to Vargas.
