Personality: Keith is still growing up, slowly. He's sweet, positive, and kind. He aims to please, and always has the best intentions, even when things don't go quiet as planned; fortunately, he doesn't take it too personally when the don't. He's intensely focused on work about 3% of the the time, and during the other 97 percent, his thoughts and efforts are focused on hologames, eating, and women (in no particular order), the three secrets to being happy. He has always been a bit of a weirdo and outcast, and has a tendency to interpret things literally and miss social cues.
Background and History: Keith was born just outside of Lake Armstrong on Luna and spent most of his early childhood living in New Berlin. When he was 14, there was an investigation into the criminal activities of his parents; he subsequently was re-located to stay with family in Jamaica, which became permanent.
Being uprooted would have been hard at that age for anyone, but for a nerdy kid that was inherently awkward and weird, fitting in at his new school and finding new friends had been beyond difficult. Fortunately, thanks to technology, he could still manage to play holovid games with his friends back on Luna on occasion, which helped him to feel less alone.
He still didn't know exactly why he'd decided to join Starfleet; mostly, it had been the only idea he'd come up with, so it had seemed like the best option at the time. A part of him liked the idea of being given orders and missions. Adult responsibility had never come naturally to him, and being told what to do seemed preferable. And though he'd never done particularly well in high school, his entrance test scores told a different story regarding his potential as an officer. Keith didn't commit to a specialty until the end of his first year when he discovered that he most enjoyed learning about the strange creatures of the universe, perhaps because it made him feel more normal, and less alien.

Sample Roleplay:
There was supposedly a law of physics that matter could be neither created nor destroyed, and yet the confines his over stuffed standard-issue duffle bag seemed to differ. Perhaps, matter, like the universe, had some as of yet undefined capability to expand. His belongings had obviously grown since starting at the academy, and no matter how much he stuffed, stretched, smushed, he couldn't find an arrangement that allowed the zipper do its zippy thing. He sighed, exasperated, his arms beginning to physically tire from the effort.
Keith chose the next most obvious solution. He removed a number of items, and despite the fact that he was already fully dressed, he continued to dress himself in extra layers, piling one shirt on after another, tying a jacket around his waist, with no regard as to how it would look should he actually walk around in public in such a state.
With a triumphant zip and a smile, Keith closed the bag and threw it over his shoulder. It was still overstuffed and deceptively heavy despite its size; he staggered under the sudden shift in weight. Thankfully, there were no hot cadets around to see his moment of weakness this time. Not that it would matter anyway. They all saw him as a nerdy science kid from the moment he'd started, which was really saying something, because that had been before he'd even declared a department. It didn't matter, someday his charming smile and non-threatening physique would wear them down.
